The mother of Kieran Kaur has been sentenced to 3 years in prison.

I think what she did was appalling.

As I look at her photograph I see a woman who looks older than her 53 years and a woman who has possibly been subservient to three dominant men.

I would not be surprised if she was coerced into hiding the knife.

Sorry predictive text; Kiran Kaur

Charleygirl5 Fri 17-Jul-26 16:46:58

Sorry, never heard of her.

Sago Fri 17-Jul-26 16:51:45

She is the Mother of Henry Nowaks killer.

petra Fri 17-Jul-26 16:58:58

Not long enough 🤬 She’s just as evil as her sons and husband.

MawsRosie Fri 17-Jul-26 19:00:22

That’s very confusing OP

Kiran Kaur, 53 is the mother of Vikram Digwa .
She has been sentenced to 3 years while he of course received a life sentence.

I think that whole family are utterly appalling!

They do not represent the Sikhs I know.

They are a disgrace both to their faith and to humanity!

The sentencing was correct imho. The mother knowingly hid the knife in order to obstruct the police and cover for her son. It strikes me that this was a family well aware of what their son could potentially do and prepared to turn a blind eye to his crimes.

Equally, she could be the Matriarch, as are many Indian mothers. She did not look subservient to me.

I think it’s a lenient sentence tbh and she will likely be out in a year or even less.

Am surprised that the brother wasn’t charged with anything considering the chat between the brothers in Punjabi in the back of the police car.

NathanaelWest Fri 17-Jul-26 23:07:54

The brother was also implicit in crimes in this case. He should also be in jail.

What a despicable act.

She will do just under a year and be out. Digwa won't be allowed out. I think even the British government are aware that they have to keep him locked up for good.

The whole case of the murder of Henry Nowak revealed a lot of things about the British police and the British government. What a hideous state of affairs.

I agree with all the comments re how heinous the crime was, it wouldn’t surprise me though if she was told to take the knife and put it on the bedroom wall.

She shared a home with three knife obsessed fanatics who it seemed had committed crimes previously.
She didn’t work, I assume she spoke English, Punjabi was spoken in the home.
It’s possible she didn’t have much life outside home.

Her mother spoke about her grandson, she said that “he was a difficult boy but that’s not unusual for children who are born in Britain”

I have never heard such an excuse before!

petra Sat 18-Jul-26 08:15:06

he was a difficult boy but that’s not unusual for children that were born in Britain
This is the second time in 24 hrs that I’ve heard this.
Yesterday an immigration official speaking from Pakistan blamed the British way of life for the crimes committed by the scum known as Shabir Ahmed.
I’m getting just a little bit pissed off with this now 🤬

'Just a Little' ?????

There is an easy answer if our way of life causes them to commit crimes, leave the U.K. …

Sago Sat 18-Jul-26 09:04:44

Perhaps our way of life could be blamed for the grooming gangs too🤔.

Exactly Sago. If we are going to have borderline racism, let it at least be logical.
(thinks of the huge number of crimes against the more vulnerable, day on day against women and children - the Brit way of life!!!)

Do you prefer the Pakistan way of life?! They have plentiful cases of rape, murder and general abuse of girls, children and crimes against women there you know.

Wyllow3 Sat 18-Jul-26 11:51:56

Many summer nights my local park has people who originated from Pakistan out for big picnics. Girls play footie with brothers and women get on the boating lake alone, climb trees.

Grandmum and Dad are there with the whole extended family secure in the knowledge they wont be dumped in a home unless extreme illness.

Polite, I chat over a pram with a newborn.

You know, I think we must live in a different universe, sometimes, and its a sad life not to feel part of something multicultural with all the variety.
