We Need Identity Cards

They are used in Spain. We have them and carry them always.

Oh yes, nobody would make a business out of forgery. Would they.

What IS the argument against them?

If the police had access to details of ID cards, in the same way that they can quickly check if a car is insured/has current MoT/has been cloned they could easily root out forged cards.

Yes absolutely. We always carried one in Holland.

I was against ID cards for most of my life.

Now with loyalty cards, less use of cash, digital payments, smartphones and NPRC everywhere, we are tracked 24/7. I can no longer see a logical reason not to have them.

What has identity cards got to do with hard right Nazi lovers ? I am sure no one on here is ‘far right’ and I have been here a while now. More a communistic thing if anything. Sheer ignorance , very easy to label anyone who doesn’t agree with you. I think we all actually have to prove who we are by use of passports, driver’s license etc ,not much difference. We don’t have them here but our borders are a tad more secure , not completely but reasonably so.

I carried an ID card for all of my working life. I see no problem with doing so for the rest of my life.

No problem here either, we carried our passports when lived in Françe

Tony Blair was right all along then. He tried to introduce them in 2005, and it was blown out of the water.

So the majority of countries are far right, are they?

Only a very few countries in the world do not have ID cards. They would be useful, not everyone has a passport or other form of identification.
