3 Abandoned Newborn Babies

I wondered the same thing. Poor woman whatever her circumstances, 3 pregnancies and no baby to keep.. So sad.

Yes a strange story for 3 abandoned babies and left over a period of time in the same area to be full siblings.
It’s interesting that someone decided to test them given the 7 year gap between first and last baby. Two are already adopted presumably by different people. I hope as they grow that the authorities can arrange that they meet each other.

these days of birth control, you wonder why it happened, could very well be a case of being held captive, whatever the reason, thank goodness the babies are safe, and one day they might meet each other...

Goodness captivity never crossed my mind. The eldest boy will be 7 soon. It’s terribly sad. My initial reaction was why doesn’t the woman get sterilised. Maybe not so simple after all perhaps.

Whatever the reasons the babies were abandoned it is overwhelmingly sad, and will have repercussions for them when they reach adulthood and try to find out who they are and from whence they came

I am not sure about captivity, but it could be a case of coercive control, or, indeed, a story like that of the Irish siblings.

These things are never that simple. Some lives are truly tragic and we should never take our own comfortable ones for granted.

Will we ever know? Something badly wrong let’s hope the couple can be traced but it won’t be a happy outcome, just answer questions.

The Irish story was sad. She had a lifelong love affair with a married man and left the babies where they would be found. He had quite a large happy family himself and I don't think his wife ever knew. He was in some band or orchestra and she never married.

My first thoughts were that it was domestic slavery actually pably15 - but it could be any (difficult) situation.
So very sad.

What generous souls the Irish siblings seem to be towards their parents. How amazing that they found each other though.

It's now been announced that 3 abandoned newborn babies all have the same parents.

Could it be that the mother is being held captive like that young woman in Austria imprisoned by her father, who gave birth to several babies which he removed?

I immediately thought the same. I really worry about the mother of these 3 babies.

I would imagine that all abandoned babies are DNA tested because it can enable the parents to be found. There were several abandoned babies reunited with their birth families on some episodes of Long Lost Family and it was amazing this could happen when in some cases the 'babies' were now 50 years old. A real miracle and something they never expected after so many years.

They have said these babies would meet each other in due course. I think they should try and have them fostered or adopted by the same family, then they can grow up together.

The baby looks very strong and healthy and when the time comes hopefully they ll be reunited
There could be a million reasons and they don’t all have to be dramatic It could be a loving couple but their religion doesn’t allow birth control and they aren’t economically able, it could be a long term affair it could be anything it doesn’t have to be nasty nasty stuff like some posters are imagining

It could also be religious differences, or that one parent is married.. I am also impressed by the resilience and compassion shown by the siblings in the Irish story..

The January baby was left outside in freezing temperatures, so no concern there and the baby was more likely to have died than survived.

I too wonder if it’s an illegal-illicit relationship. It could be incestuous and the mother needs to be found as this isn’t normal by any stretch of the imagination.

Whatever the circumstances it is awful to think that somewhere there is a woman who has secretly been pregnant and given birth three times without anyone knowing. You would imagine someone must know about her.
At least science has helped realise that the three babies are related. I hope they are able to meet up in the future. But I can't imagine how you would explain it all to a child.

You do not explain it to the child. You wait until they are grown up.

They should know from as early as suitable that they are adopted and the circumstances revealed over time. Certainly don't wait until they are adults. Highly likely other people will know and it's best the children are prepared and it's not some ghastly shock in the playground.

Children brought up in foster or adoptive families are given age appropriate information throughout their lives. Historically adopted children weren’t brought up like this, there was some notion about telling them ‘when they’re old enough’. We now know this is unhelpful to say the least.

It can’t just be poverty or just not wanting children what’s to stop someone giving birth in hospital and placing the child for adoption. Having an unassisted birth, leaving 3 babies in plastic bags in the park is not everyday behaviour. There’s got to be more of a backstory, perhaps abuse, a trafficked woman, migrants living under the radar who don’t know how to access services, who knows.

After some of the stories I've heard from a neighbour who is a midwife I wondered if they were the result of forced prostitution, but as they all have the same father, this doesn't seem likely. I also wondered if the long gap might be due to one of the parents being in prison or something similar. I'm glad that they've realised it's important for the children to know each other. Their background will still be a mystery but it will give them some sense of family.
