Who next for PM?

I vote for defenestration but beyond that, have little else to offer.

The partygate parties were shoddy and distasteful; I could gulp and swallow them if the prime minister had not lied again and again about them, and, even worse, now "pledges" to stay put and carry on, as through he were doing something noble.

I read on Very British Problems yesterday that one of the joyous gifts of the English language is that you can put the modifier "absolute" in front of any noun you like, and it sounds like an insult. Looking at the things scattered round me I could go for: Mr. Johnson is an absolute covid-snot hankie; Mr. Johnson is an absolute coffee table; or my favourite, Mr. Johnson is an absolute wool-winder.

Not Jeremy Hunt please. Richy Rich has blotted his copybook now.

I think Liz Truss has a chance at the top job, I was hoping for Rishi Sunak, but that’s not on the cards since his Spring Statement along with his wife’s tax affairs.

The reason that they won’t chuck Johnson out at the moment is because there is no one to replace him of integrity, untouched by the corruption, lies and incompetence.

What if they went back to those who Johnson threw out?

The quality and morals of the people that Johnson has pulled close around him make dredging up one good, untarnished apple from the rotten barrelful impossible.

Many on GN praise and value their Conservative MP so there must be many excellent MPs in the party, just not in Johnson's clique. What must those Tory MPs who went into politics as a force for good be thinking?

Not my favourite, I would like to see a rank outsider, someone like Penny Mordaunt, good local MP, normal background (Comprehension School, Reading Uni and still in the Navy Reserves).

I honestly don't know. Im seriously considering giving up politics and voting altogether. I have never been so disillusioned with the shower I have in my own country ( Scotland), and with UK government. Before anyone begins jumping on me, I have voted in every single election since I was 18 years old. Im now late 50s, but you know what, they are all the same and it doesn't matter the party.

Truss and Dorries aren’t up to it! How anyone can contemplate doe eyed Dorries who hangs on to Johnson’s every word is ridiculous. Cabinet are all guilty of supporting a liar so none are suitable.

God knows. I just hope it's better than we have now.

It's a pretty low bar to aim at, so hopefully there is someone.

Shortly before ‘Help to Buy’ was introduced, I emailed my MP to say that it was surely just going to whack up the price of new builds, which are often overpriced compared with older properties anyway.

MP said he shared my concerns, but forwarded my email to GS, relevant minister at the time.

A very arrogant reply came back, saying that there was ‘no evidence’ that this would happen.
Well, of course there wasn’t - it hadn’t happened yet!

Of course it helped to whack up already high prices anyway, not to mention swelling the building CEOs’ bonuses very nicely, thank you.

IMO any new leader would have to come from outside the tainted cabinet/Number Ten ranks, but I can’t see that happening. ?
