In effect Cummings is governing the country following the advice of focus groups and he and Johnson are ignoring the Tory MPs. It is thought that Cummings believes in the adage "give the people what they want" and we will stay in power.

If Johnson goes then Cummings too. I can't believe that any PM replacing Johnson would want to keep Cummings.

No, of course another PM wouldn’t want Johnson’s favourite advisor, they all want their own chosen spads, although nobody is replacing the PM anyway.

I'm still gaping in disbelief and shock at just how easy it has been to completely over ride Parliamentary Democracy and all the conventions that have informed the institutions of government.

I wonder if any of our MPs will grow a backbone and do something to protect Parliament and the British public from this pair of maniacs and their associates.

From memory, it was introduced when Rishi Sunak became Chancellor. The Treasury and Number 10 back room staff were merged with Cummings in charge of all SpAds. Originally, he was in charge of recruitment, but that was changed after he'd recruited that eugenist person (name forgotten) and objections were raised.
