Apple Pay

I’ve been using Apple Pay for a good few years and I love the convenience.
Give it a go. If you don’t get on with it you can always revert back to using a card.

So far, so good. Means I don’t have to take my handbag.

I use Google Wallet which is similar. I love it.

I have my cards in Google Wallet which I use in shops. I also use Apple Pay when shopping online.

Google Wallet all the time now.

I’m another fan of Apple Pay. Works perfectly.

I use Apple Pay on my Apple Watch. No searching in a handbag and my wrist is always with me. 😂

No never use it- get cash out, to keep it going, plus I keep an eye on my spending.

I wish someone could explain to me why it is only possible to keep an eye on one's spending by using cash and not a credit card.

Because you draw out an exact amount of money and use receipts to record spending manually in a ledger. When my housekeeping was £6pw, I did this all the time for utilities, rates, etc and also for shopping and any other expenses, e.g. bus fares.

But, why is that only possible with cash - i have a friend who shops on her credit card and keeps a ledger.

And, I'm not sure everyone who
uses cash keeps a ledger.

I use a card and keep an account of my spending on the notes section of my phone. Just as easy as cash, I don’t overspend I can’t afford to. I use Apple Pay online , an actual credit card in shops

I rarely use cash and don’t have any problems ‘running a tight ship’ as my dad used to say.
I don’t need a ledger. Online banking means you can check anything at any time wherever you are.

I use Apple Pay. If my phone was lost or stolen, the finder (or thief) wouldn’t be able to make payments with it unless they were able to unlock it, which is vanishingly unlikely. Anyone’s stolen card can be used to make multiple contactless payments up to £100 each, anyone’s stolen cash can be used up to the amount in the wrong person’s hands. It’s a no-brainer, Apple (or Google) Pay are massively safer.

It isn’t only possible with cash.
You can keep a ledger if you like, though I don’t any more.
Now your bank or credit card statements keep track of how much you’ve spent and how much you have left.

If you draw cash, you know how much you drew, how much you have left but it doesn’t tell you where you spent it or what you spent it on.

Thanks everyone. Had a scare yesterday, went shopping and looked for my phone, it wasn't there in my bag. Had to get home and find it, everything on there. It had fallen out down the side of my seat in the car. Sharp reminder to fasten my bag when going out. Try again today.

I have a main current account and have frozen the card , it pays a monthly sum into a separate account for spending mainly on Apple Pay . I call it my “ pocket money “ account and keep the balance to a minimum .

Everyone to their own. I dislike the system knowing where and how I spend my money. I do use all systems including bank transfer but I prefer cash and it does help me not overspend and ask do I really need it. Its not until a teller or someone sitting behind a desk asks why you have spent money on whatever that you realise how little control you have over your money. A dear friend of mine whose DIL was a financial nightmare so much so it should be made into a film and when her son had to pay her off through divorce upon sitting with his bank he was asked why he had taken 2 takeaways that week he works 60 hours a week along with trying to look after his 3 x children and did he really need his gym subscription which he uses to take his children swimming. This is nothing to do with being above board, using electronic systems takes away your rights and control. A tenner is a tenner in cash, once it goes through the system it loses almost half its value.

Never thought I would ever use Apple Pay, but since updating my mobile phone, I was encouraged by my daughter to try it and have never looked back.

I tells me how much I’ve spent and where I spent it.

Because when you are on a budget, it’s easy to get carried away using a credit card.
I think by paying cash, I am more likely to ask myself do I really want or need whatever I am buying.
Anyway, I find it works for me.

I was buying light bulbs in an electrical shop, I asked the young man serving, do you take cash. He said, yes, course, ‘cash is king’. I laughed, I thought these young ones are walking us into a cashless society.
