As some of you may recall, my husband had Lewy Body Dementia for several years and spent the last 18 months in a nursing home and died peacefully on July 2nd.
When I registered his death, I was advised to use the “Tell us once” online form to inform all government departments. I did this on July 4th and have heard nothing since.
His last state pension, paid in arrears, arrived on June 14th so I calculated that the DWP owed 18 days, or around £580 as my husband received the full “new” state pension.
When no payment was received after 4 weeks, I phoned the DWP to be told, after security checks and much keyboard activity at the other end of the line, that a payment was indeed due, had been processed on July 29th and would be in my account on August 5th.
Now it might just be my usual cynicism, but I suspect I would not have received any payment had I not requested it.
So I thought I would ask you good people on Gransnet whether any of you had had a similar experience, or whether “owed” state pension turned up without being chased.
Over to you!
