Xmas Box £10

If you have a search facility on your online account you can put your NI Number followed by a space and then DWP XB in. It should find it for you.

If you don't know your NI number you can copy it from your State Pension where it is followed by DWP SP. Just change the SP to XB and search.

Mine was just added to my December pension payment.

DH had his separately the other day. I havent had mine yet. Not concerned, it will come eventually.

You beat me to it YorkLady*, I was going to ask about this. My OH got his with his winter heating allowance, I didn’t. Sounds like I may get it with the usual pension payment.

We each got ours with our pensions, first week in December.

I have always felt that WFA is sent out alphabetically and by age Abitbarmy, although I have nothing that says that is the case.

It's one of those little oddities that are given but can be taken away if a government wishes, because they are not incorporated into the state pension.

£10 was possibly worth closer to £100 so long ago. It pays for very little now and must cost a fortune to distribute. Mine always arrives on its own and I saw it by accident on my online bank account.

It is more likely to be removed than increased to something meaningful.

How I agree Callistemon.

We need a proper "living" pension, that takes accounts of all the odd benefits (with the exception of housing). It would save so much in claimant's anxiety and huge amounts in administration costs.

Yes, some who get it will be rich or even very rich although that hasn't stopped them giving cost of living benefits to such people. But you simply tweak the tax distribution and take it back over certain earnings.

Harold Wilson's government introduced the £10 Christmas present as a gift in the seventies. Of course it was worth a great deal more then and it really made a difference to usually old women to enable them to buy a few treats for Christmas.
Do we really need it now ? We can't do much with £10 but we could donate it to the nearest food bank.

It would be worth about £155 now, so well worth having - instead of a joke. I think they should just drop it for anyone not on a means-tested benefit - and redistribute it accordingly.

I agree with Hetty58. I got mine yesterday, I’ll pass it on to the NSPCC with a bi more.

I cannot wait for the money I will receive next year when I am 80. I think it is 25p a week- an insult.
