Water Meters

My water as a single individual was about £18.00 per month. Having a meter made me far more aware of wasting water. With both myself and DH it’s about £25.00 per month.

I'm sure you will save money. I think there is a theory that says that if there are more bedrooms than people, you should save money.

We paid £63 per month before we had the meter installed. Since having the meter, we pay approx £24. It fluctuates as per the amount of water we use.

Approx £240.00 per year, for the two of us.

Our water bill at least halved.

Water meters are fine providing they work properly and have the proper code so when they're read remotely from outside the property they give the right reading. Through the years whatever I've had done for the easiest has worked out to be the most complicated through sheer incompetence.

I live alone so it's obvious that I don't use water to full capacity. It's probably costing me the same as it would if a family lived here and United Utilities still can't get it right. I've given up so just pay up and look happy now because I'm sick of arguing with them. I can't make the stupid sods understand when I phone up that I'm not a heavy user.

Ayse mine's more than £25 a month and there's only me ! No bath---shower only.

It is now about £420 pa.

I live alone and pay £9 a month.

Ours is £37 per month on a water meter. There's only 2 of us but we do both have a bath nearly every day throughout the Winter (and Spring and Autumn!). This compares to our holiday cottage which doesn't have a meter, only has a shower and is £45 per month).

We pay £35 a month for two regular bathers and in summer a large kitchen garden and greenhouse get watered, when necessary.

Before we had the meter installed 25 years ago it was £500 a year, based on rateable value.

Obviously we in the North West are getting fleeced with our water bills.

I live alone—roughly £25 pm..... long shower, daily ; washing machine every 3 days - dishwasher, same .

Around £250 a year, this house has a water meter when we bought it, no idea what the cost would be without the meter.

We pay £26 a month to Thames water, used to be at least double before. There are two of us.

Our bill halved with water meter at previous home. Paid £22 pm.

Two of use, shower or bath (for me) every day. Washing machine twice a week, dishwasher approx every five days, greenhouse to water. £26.50 per month.

NW England here and I pay £15.00 a month on a water meter which is slightly higher than they ask me to but I like to build a bit of credit up for when I have to water the garden in summer months. This is compared to the £26.00 a month I used to pay non metered.

Perhaps there's a leak somewhere between your meter and your house EllanVannin

Or something is wrong with the meter. They are not infallible - we know from a faulty gas meter.

mine is over £700 a year, just me, don't use much. no meter.

it annoys me that nearby neighbours with extra loos, basins, and outside taps etc pay the same or even less. non-metered.

am a bit scared if there was a leak somewhere, the cost could rack up enormously before it was known, with a meter.
