last week we got a phone call/recorded msg supposedly from HMRC .The very posh voice said that this was a fianl warning and we should expect an arrest warrant for non payment of tax. Within 48 hours. To learn more about the case we should call them asap ... they left a number .Now as I am fully aware of our tax payments and the fact that we have always paid any money we owe on time I was a bit put out.I'm not gullible though and the fact that the voice didn't use any name of the person facing arrest made me think it was a scam.I called my OH who was out on a job and he phoned our accountant who confirmed the return phone number was in fact a much publicied number used in a scam.Since that call I've had the same call three times ..all threatening arrest within 48 hours .A call like this could cause a great deal of distress to someone more vulnerable than me so be aware of it and dont panic .It came from an 001 number .
