Refund via Paypal

A company wishes to send me a refund via Paypal, but cannot do so as it is nearly a year since the purchase was made and their "payment company" has set a time limit on refunds.

I feel disinclined to do this in case PayPal is linked to my bank a/c. Would you do this? I would rather let them know my bank a/c no. and sort code and have them pay me by BACs. Am I being unnecessarily cautious?

The item has been replaced once already for the same problem. It is a pair of very posh and very expensive slippers from Mahabis which I bought for my OH's birthday last September. They looked ideal, as they are slippers with a detachable rubber sole that makes it possible to go outdoors in them; however the inner sole on the main slipper keeps coming unstuck - a particular danger for OH with his PD as it is a trip hazard. The original cost £70!!!! - it was a special birthday treat!

I've used PayPal for years - never had any problem with either buying or selling. Surely if you're willing to give your bank details direct to the company it amounts to the same thing as PayPal having your bank details. I would have thought using PayPal would be more secure.

Why the worry about bank details? Our sort code and account number - plus a specimen signature-has been on every cheque we have ever issued.

My worry is because PayPal is linked to our bank a/c and you do not have to do anything other than click the button - and bingo! - money is gone!

I've had refunds via Paypal. There's never been a problem. Someone knowing your bank account number and sort code can pay money in but they can't take any out.

I set up a separate bank account for supplying the PP. account. It's a savings account not linked to any of my others. In it is a small amount of money to cover any on line purchases and can easily be topped up if need be.
If it's hacked ( I hope not ) then only a small amount of money is compromised.
