Best savings account rates

I used to get 2% on my First Direct savings account, but it has now dropped to 0.5%. I can't get an ISA as I ma no longer resident in the UK. Where were shall I put my little nest egg for a rainy day in the UK??? Any advice, please and thank you.

Some online saver accounts give you a bonus rate for a year. I move ours each year and gain the bonus for further year. You can even do it with the same company - close it and then immediately open a new one with the same provider.
