I’ve been getting a lot of hype on fb about a cleaning method…….rhymes with Hurdy & Jigg…….wondered if anyone on GN had used it and what your opinions are?? Just curious, from what I see it’s simply a blend of essential oils diluted in tap water costing quite a bit of cash.

Have been using Purdy & Figg for several years, absolutely love them. Lots of different fragrances to choose from. I like the lemongrass bathrooms ones including eau-de-loo.

(My daughter, daughter-in-laws and sister also use their products)

I personally didn’t like them but I know others who do.
I felt it left streaks , certainly on shiny surfaces like glass doors and shelves.

If you use their own e-cloths along with washing the cloths without using softener this eliminates any streaking.

Same as GrannyGravy13
Love the fragrances - just started on a geranium one for the kitchen. Always use with the green cloths they supply.

I use it, but more for dusting and polishing and I love the scents. It’s been done on glass too.

Fine not done!

I’ve seen it advertised on tv recently, some chap makes cleaning look like a lifestyle choice.

I assume it’s not cheap?

Lemon, white vinegar and bicarb will sort out most cleaning jobs, but they do not come in nice packaging.

The starter kits are not expensive but unfortunately it’s a subscription model.

The smell is nice but like all of these products does not last it’s just uplifting for a few minutes while you are cleaning.

Zoflora, and much cheaper, heavy stains mixture of white vinegar and bicarb, vinegar smell disappears quickly, and if you want nice scent wipe over with zoflora

It is easy to unsubscribe and just purchase as and when you want to.

It is also now available from other outlets.

I tried it but wasn’t overly impressed, no better than any other cleaner and the smell didn’t last. And yes, I did use the cloths provided! I try to use eco or homemade products, the smell doesn’t last with these either which is good if it’s vinegar! 😂

Astitchintime Wed 21-Oct-26 10:54:25

Thank you all for your constructive comments and opinions. I’ve no intention of buying it……..much sooner use my own products, I was just curious what all the hype was about.
I am very eco minded and do my best to protect the environment too.
Why someone chose to report this thread is beyond me, it was a genuine question and I didn’t mention any trade names either…….maybe some GNetters should go and have a G & T and retire to a darkened room.
Have a good day one and all……happy cleaning!

M&S do a concentrated green tea and bergamot disinfectant, a really lovely smell!

I liked the look of the items but did not want to get tied into a subscription, If I had been able to just buy a couple of items to try then I would have.

Shel1951 Wed 21-Oct-26 15:13:28

Cc i I will try that, sounds lovely

Love it... but stopped using it as it's a subscription service that you have to sign up to!

My mother loved this. Especially the Freesia Scent.
Used to smell it throughout the house when she been cleaning and mopping on certain days and we came home from school at tea time.

She was also big on Parazone, Lysol and Dettol. Reckoned that they could kill any germs on this Planet.

Agree with a couple of posters that bicarb of soda, soda crystals and white vinegar work a treat on a lot of cleaning cleaning tasks. Then use a mild diluted spray of essential oils. Just a few drops of lemon, orange, grapefruit, geranium, lavendar etc.

And peppermint and eucalyptus for the bathroom. And tee tree if you need a disinfectant

I think a lot of eco products are very over hyped and expensive..But each to their own.
