Window coverings - too much choice!

The best blinds that I've had in a while are the "vision" ones - alternative strips of solid and transparent that you line up to let light in or block it out altogether and the blind is on a never-ending loop (hope that makes sense).

I have it in the kitchen but would opt for it elsewhere when I replace e.g. in the spare room.

In my bedrooms I have Roman blinds and I'm very happy with them. They are Velcro'd on to a strip fixture at the top, so I can take them down and vacuum them.

Venetian blinds are just too fiddly!

The lounge is the only place in my house that I have curtains, out of necessity.

Thank you Grannyknot - very helpful. I have wooden venetians at the moment (and helpful DH who dusts!) but they are a faff. I'll have a look at 'vision'.

Old fashioned plain wooden shutters made to measure. Keeps out the light and no dusting

Grannyknot I was looking at visionblinds for my bedroom can you tell me if they do cut the light out? My bedroom gets the early morning sun and it wakes me in the Summer time .

I have Roman blinds ( on velcro) in most places. At the bifold doors I do have curtains. When/ if they ever need replacing I might put something difderent in their place. I always feel venetian blinds a bit institutional but possibly because we had them at work!

I have vertical blinds at my windows or the house or would be a goldfish bowl.
Closing them in very hot or cold weather does help help keep the house warm or cool.

(We are lucky to have a house modern enough to have been well insulated when it was built. )

I will be downsizing to a new build soon, will have to start from scratch and want easy-maintain window dressings that will last a very long time. I am going for plantation shutters on the front windows at least. The ones in two sections, so that the top section opens independently.

I learnt my lesson re curtains, made them most of my life, bought 2 very large curtains for this house, cost me masses and I will have to leave them as the windows are so different. Tbh, I am looking forward to light coloured shutters but am still in a quandry about 2 sets of french doors with side windows, at the back. Maybe thinking of honeycomb blinds. Don`t know if shutters will fit these

I would like to use Roman Blinds in my rooms.They are easy to operate.They really add an extra touch of luxury.I'm so happy to use these types of blinds.
