Post menopausal bleed

Has anyone gone through this after age 60?

I had a brief episode when I was 54 - a couple of years post-menopause - and had it all checked out including the invasive 'probe' at UCH. The consultant spotted a fibroid but wasn't unduly concerned about it and described the episode as a 'last hurrah'. All fine.

Not had any further episodes until today when I went to the loo earlier this evening and had a small gush (which seems to have stopped now). but have to admit I was a bit shocked. It's my birthday tomorrow (64) so an unwelcome present to ruin my day.

I've read that this kind of thing after the age of 60 is a definite cause for concern so of course I'm going to get it checked out - just wondering whether anyone here has going through similar in their sixties??

Three times!

Each time a polyp was the cause and I had it removed under GA.

Yeuch! I had wondered about fibroids or polyps

Did yours keep growing or developing new ones Cressida?

Either way not looking forward to the investigation - last time I had stomach ache for the best part of the day.

A bit late on gransnet fell asleep earlier!
I had surgery for polyps and fibroids in my 50s. Then problems later on in early 60s I was not concerned it was the same as last time.
I suggest go and talk to Dr to put your mind at ease. Have a nice birthday and let us know how you get on.

Yes, three times. Fast tracked each time for hysteroscopy, no explanation found. I do have fibroids but they have shrunk considerably post-menopause and were ok at the time of the tests. As you say, always get this checked out but try not to worry too much.
Happy Birthday!

I had spot through bleeding but while I was on HRT in my Late 50's. My GP thought it was a Fibroid, she sent me for a scan. It wasn't....I had to have a fast track Hysterectomy.
Best wishes

I also was diagnosed with polyps by a hysteroscopy, they were removed about three weeks later , biopsies and they were all benign.
Just get it checked out for your peace of mind and Happy Birthday, enjoy your day.
