Ganglion cyst on top of foot

My husband had one which disappeared of its own accord. This was a few years ago and it hasn’t reappeared.

I have one on top of foot which appeared in my late thirties. I did nothing about it for years and it then transpired it had turned into a bony lump, which can’t be removed. It does cause the odd problem with shoe fitting. I have another on the right wrist which appeared in my late twenties which was going to be operated on, but then I married, moved, got pregnant and it disappeared. However, it reappeared in my late sixties and periodically comes and goes, but does cause some discomfort. Now in the latter seventies. Would seriously suggest getting something done about it, or at least finding out if it could turn bony.

I had one on my wrist when I was in my thirties.
It was quite large.
The doctor said to go back to him in six months if it was bothering me.
It disappeared about four months later.
It has never returned.

My D had one on her ankle when she was two.
It was just where shoes rubbed so got inflamed. It was drained but filled up within a week so had to be removed, it never came back.

Just wondered if anyone had had any experience of this? I had it drained last week, and a cortisone injection but have been told that it will probably return. Surgery to fuse bones in toe has been recommended but I would prefer to avoid surgery. Mid 70s.

Back in the 80's, my DH had one on the top of his wrist and attended the doctor. Doc whacked it with a heavy medical book and it was gone! In subsequent years, it did return and hubby just took the dictionary to it :-)

The cure used to to whack it with a bible, years ago.

I wonder if it makes a difference what book is used to whack it?! 😆 A heavy Chambers dictionary was the order of the day in our house!

I had one on the back of my hand I had operation to remove it ,I had 10sutures in ,I still have the scar even though it's 50 odd years ago .
