Laser eye treatment

The whole procedure was done for me in under an hour. So pleased I had it done. I returned a few weeks later to have it checked out. Painless 👍

NanKate thank you. I need to organise my time at the moment and returning next day for a 3/4 hour journey each way is exhausting.

I ve had a number of different lazer treatments done and always been a week or two afterwards and the last time I didn’t have to return at all it depends on why it’s being done

It’s emergency treatment due to hypertension that hasn’t totally cleared with tablets and drops.

I had it done because my 'angles' were closing and my Mum had glaucoma. I was petrified (I can do anything except eyes) but it was really simple. I had to return a few months later.

My angles are closing too. I’m not scared just up to my eyes ( pardon the pun 🙄) in other things

Is it an iridotomy? Not sure of the spelling. I had it done to both eyes last September. Closed angled glaucoma.
Completely painless. Took about 20 minutes or so. Came homr with loads of drops to take at different times. I had to write a timetable so I didnt forget.
Seems to have been successful as the pressures went down and have stayed down. I seem to remember going for a checkup some weeks later. I still use drops at night Ganfort.
My next trial will be my cataracts removed early next year. Not looking forward to that, but my sight is quite misty so they need doing.
Good luck with the treatment OP. It is over and done with so quickly. Like all things the thought of it is far worse than it really is.

Hurrah!!! All done today. It tickled in each eye and no headaches as warned. No return date yet but needing cateract surgery when I’m ready.

Phone the h ospital and ask them. It probably depends on what you are having done, and exactly what technique the department uses.

I too had to have laser eye surgery, the biggest pain is the drops afterwards.I too had to make a timetable. Waiting for cataract surgery now in a few weeks, I am nervous about that,as due to other health issues I have to have a general anaesthetic.

Are drops for long-term use, or just post surgery?

I’ve got a week on the post laser eye drops but it looks like the other two eye drops will go on for longer. Possibly one of them for life.

Yes I think I will be on Ganfort for life despite the irridotomy laser treatment being successful.
Maybe the removal of the cataracts will help keep my pressures down. Thats what I have been told.

I had general anaesthetic with cataract surgery and it was fineDenny05.. Staff at hospitals were really good. Lots of drops to take after. Much more sensitive to onions now so buy frozen diced ones
