My upper spine is suffering from wear and tear, usual symptoms, I understand are pain in the neck - I have no neck pain at all. The only symptom I have is numbness in a couple of my fingers, which I mistook as being part of my carpal tunnel syndrome.

Two people with exactly the same structural problem will have completely different symptoms, one will have pain and one will not.

It all depends whether a nerve is being tweaked by the spinal degeneration. If it isn't he is less likely to be in pain - lucky man!

I'm glad to hear your husband is not currently in pain. As person with spinal stenosis I would encourage your husband to do some exercises to try to avoid any trapped nerves. A physio can help him work out which ones to do and how much.
