Help!

Take cold and flu tabs, and use a vicks inhaler just before going. Not sure there is much you can do. Hopefully the excitement of your retirement meal will overcome your symptoms but if you worsen overnight and just feel too ill don’t feel bad about rescheduling the meal. Am sure people will understand.

Have an early night, take high power cold 'cures', and yes,use an inhaler - but limit how much you drink (alcohol).

I had a really bad cold the other week which lasted for ages. Annoyingly, I always keep Boots First Defence in my medicine cabinet, which is supposed to reduce how long cold symptoms last for. No idea if it does what it says on the packet because I always forget to use it. I did find that cold and flu sachets helped.

Well, yes, there is that, but by not attending you somehow feel you are letting everyone else down. I know that sounds silly, but you sort of feel they have gone to a lot of effort and maybe even cost too.
I sympathise Lizzbeth. I'm in the same kind of situation, due to go abroad with people at the weekend, but, as things stand, I will need every remedy in Boots to even get in the car.
