Neck muscles-Spasms

Yesterday my spaniel yanked really really hard on her lead..thought my neck had snapped it was so painful...hardly slept last night. As the day has gone on I'm now having occasional spasms which hurt so much they sort of throw my whole body...I'm doing hot& cold compresses..paracetamol...cant take ibuprofen or opiates as once had horrendous experience in hospital after taking them..
Anyone else had similar with their neck...what did you do?
Going to try to see the doctor tomorrow...
