Dealing with cancer

I haven't had it, but just wanted to extend my sympathy and wish you and your husband well.

My dad had a bronchoscopy at age 94. He was given sedation and knew very little about it. He said to me he felt fine when he came out of the bronchoscopy room, albeit he was a little bit wobbly on his feet. I took him home and he had a sleep in his armchair and was soon back to normal.

Please try not to worry My father also had a bronchoscopy. He had a little sedation. He was bright and alert on discharge and said he had no discomfort. His biggest problem had been a nurse offering him a hand to hold, it had embarrassed him.

I am sorry to hear about this diagnosis. It is good that others on here have reassurances to give about the bronchoscopy.

Thank you all for your good wishes, it's the unknown that is making Mr P a tad nervous. However, it is good to know others have had a 'good' experience, again, many thanks.

Plum it is a nerve racking time. For you both. Try not to worry until your get the histology results. Hopefully he gets his results quickly. I know it's easier said than do. But there are more treatments available today than in my husband's time . ?

Bronchoscopy didn't go ahead as doctor who was going to do it told DH because of where the tumour is sited it was highly unlikely he would be able to get tissue and he wasn't prepared to take the risk. So...... back to the drawing board! DH will see consultant next week to discuss options.

Stay strong, Plum111. DH was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer just before the first lockdown and has undergone loads of tests, chemo etc. We take things day by day and try to find pleasure in small things, mostly a walk to the shops and a coffee!

Best wishes from me too. My husband has prostate cancer, thankfully in remission presently. It is scary.
