Shingles vaccine.

I know this has been discussed quite a lot on here but I was wondering how many people on here actually got shingles from having the virus? I can have mine in a couple of weeks and do want to have it, but don’t want to be poorly. The pharmacist told me that she’d known several people that had a mild case of shingles after having the vaccine. There’s a reason why I very much want to have the vaccine but I don’t want to say anything on here. Also, although I’m not immune suppressed but I wondered if it made a difference having the live vaccine compared to the other one.

I believe it’s extremely rare to develop shingles from the vaccine, although 1 in 10 may experience side effects such as sore arm, bruising, etc. I believe vulnerable folk can get a non-live vaccine, delivered in 2 doses. When DH had his, he was on chemotherapy, but still had the single live dose.
Perhaps your Pharmacist has seen these cases over a long period and having witnessed full blown shingles, the very rare chance of a mild dose through the vaccine, is a risk worth taking.

I don't think it is a live virus vaccine so I don't think you can get shingles from it but I am not a biochemist so may be wrong. Some react badly to it ( my husband did) but that is like any vaccine I guess.

nanna8 (hello!smile) it is a live vaccine, I only know that because immune suppressed people cannot have it.
But I have been informed by a poster on here (sorry, can’t remember who) that there is now a new shingles vaccine which is just becoming available which isn’t live.
