Radioactive dye injection

My daughter had the radioactive scans. She didn't find them any worse than other scans. We had to allow 2 hours after the radioactive bit was done, and then go back for the scan. I'm sorry you're going through this worry.

I had a radioactive dye scan. I got the injection went for a nice lunch, then went back and had the scan. I didn't feel any worse than when I had other types of scans. You have to wee in a special toilet at the hospital, as your urine is radioactive.
There was a bonus: I was told that I couldn't go back to school that afternoon, as I was radioactive and couldn't go near the children. So I had an unexpected afternoon off.
I hope your husband gets OK.

My husband had this when he was having tests for bladder CNcer, as the others said no different to any other scan we just had lunch after the injection and after 2hours they did the scan. He was told to keep away from babies and pregnant women for 24 hrs he set the door alarms off in Tesco the next day though ? Sorry to hear your story I know how stressful it is I hope your husband gets a good result.
Unfortunately OHs tests were positive for bladder cancer we are now 6mths down the line and in the middle of Radiotherapy but he's putting weight on now and things are very positive.

Don't worry about the scan please come back with an update .

DH has this when diagnosed with prostrate cancer. He too was told to avoid children for 24 hours. He then had radiotherapy, has regular hormone injections and his PSA levels are now the lowest they can be. So all looking as positive as can be.

My husband was diagnosed with prostate cancer this year and after an MRI scan , biopsies etc. he was placed on a radiotherapy ' trial ' and has now had two excellent results . His PSA level is now '2'. We were very happy not only with the initial attention from the NHS but the after care follow ups. He did unfortunately suffer very badly from bladder/bowel spasms during the radiotherapy but apparently that only happens to a small percentage of patients.

This is a trying time for you both but try your best to just put your faith in the hands of the experts and I wish your husband the very best for a successful outcome.

I'm sorry to hear of all the DH's ill health. What a worrying time for all of you.

Thank you all for replies, I am not worried about the scan itself, but more about the outcome, you all seem to have had bad results from your replies,i am more worried that they are doing this because they know something is definitely wrong,
We are not married or even living together, only recently a relationship, although known each other for about 18 months,
We are both worried that it will put a damper on things,just when we are at a happy stage in out relationship, but of course his health is more important
I was hoping that someone would reply with nothing was found, but it seems there must be something there,if you see what I mean
I will update when I know what is going on
Meant to ask how long before anyone got results?

valeriej43 I think people who get the all clear tend to move on and put it out of their minds hence few 'nothing found' posts. It could easily be something and nothing so please try to be positive till you know there is something to worry about.
Good luck for the scan. I think we got results within a week or two .

His first MRI and Biopsy results took ages to come back
The Urologist has said if he needs an operation he will need to go to another hospital miles away,so whether that means they already have an idea of what is wrong I don't know,
Also might need another Biopsy they said, a more specialised one, and a different hospital again

Poor thing already had bowel cancer 10 years ago and got over that
It just all seems very quick, which is good but worrying at the same time
I will update when I know more

DH has the same and has had all sorts of scans and procedures except an operation which is not an option for him. Drugs have a lot of side effects.
I feel sorry because he is my carer and battles on regardless.

My partner has rung me [as we don't live together] and will update me today when hopefully he will call and see me ,although sounded ok
