Leg swelling

Im a pensioner who like us all have health problems my one is my leg has swollen twice as the other one it is painful,
I saw my doctor who was not sure what it was so he ordered a scan at the local hospital I got a letter telling me to go for the scan in three weeks now i am used to a bit of pain but this worrys me a lot as it could lead to a congested heart failure by being a lymph odeama or fleabitis yes i have looked up on the wab not knowing exactly what it is i am now panicing because the swelling and pain has got worse what should I do for the best now the hospital says it cannot change the date.

I would go back to your GP its does sound as though it needs looking at earlier than that. Good luck with it.

I think you should see your doctor tomorrow. Ask for an emergency appointment because you are in pain. Ridiculous to leave you for three weeks waiting for a scan. What did doctors do before they had this modern technology?

Is it hot and red in colour by any chance? Keep a thought out for Celulitis .

Do you have an A&E Walk In Center ? I too think you should ring your surgery tomorrow and explain you are aware of the possible causes and the fact the doctor has arranged for a scan but the pain has increased and you are worried.

I'd go to A&E is it is so bad. Could be a DVT.

I agree, you should be seen especially as the pain and swelling have increased. Hopefully your GP will have done a test for phlebitis prior to ordering the scan.

Googling something that you do not understand is not helpful.

Are you already on water tablets or anything like that? I'm just wondering if you are on the correct medication for it and that the Dr just needs more info. If not, surely he/she should have given you something.

It could very easily be cellulitis in which case you need anti-b's immediately. A DVT is also serious, please, please go to either your doctor tomorrow or even a walk-in/ or out of hours centre today. Please don't delay.
