Mimosa in bloom!

I love mimosa blossom. Shows how much milder our weather is.

Yes, the hazel catkins have appeared in our hedge. The blue tits seem to be eating either their pollen or insects which are on them, not sure which.

I have one small tree and the poor thing came down in a storm .
I pruned it drastically and it's supported with ropes and stakes .

Can’t remember exactly where I saw them, but a week or so ago I drove past a couple of cherry trees in full bloom, near where I live in NE Aberdeenshire.

Here in Cornwall they are picking daffodils now, as every year. Some are in full flower. My daughter has a bunch of some called Early Sensation which are in full bloom, bred and grown on the farm behind her house.

Our neighbour's mimosa fell in a high wind last year. Was very sad to see it go!

I love mimosa! I had no idea it could grow in England. But I'm in the North...

Our mimosa is in a fleece coat, through which we can see the flowers.
We lost all the flowers last year in the hard frost.

I didn’t know mimosa could grow in England, either. The only time I’ve seen a tree in full flower was in Australia, in Sydney. It was a thrill. My mother adored mimosa - I think she’d seen it in France - so I used to try to track some down every year for her February birthday. In those days it was sold in the street, as were violets and snowdrops. I don’t think that happens now.

Near us is a row of town houses with 5 large mimosa trees in front, several actually in bloom today! Usually it’s not until late January/early Feb.

Wow, reminds me of living in Portugal - beautiful to see the Mimosa and Almond Blossom in early spring. At this time of year here in Scotland though...........

My Mimosa was showing flower buds in December which gradually got bigger.. and the started popping open in Feb and we've had a lovely display all Feb.. Now its March and they're sadly shrivelling up..until next year…

I put ours straight into a really big pot, that way I could work out where it would get the most amount of sun..and its been better and bigger ever year…Also I can move it to give it some protection against a wall for the winter..
