another mystery plant.

Knapwort ?

Thanks Ellan - it's similar, but in ours the 'flowers' are green. Up to now anyway - they might change.
I'll try to persuade husband to post a photo - it's beyond my internet skills.

Oh Fennel, never admit that!

Teasel?

sedum?

shysal yes it could be a kind of teasel.
I've looked it up and it says the flowers don't appear until the second year, as with ours. Maybe the flowers will turn lavender soon.
Teasel is useful in flower arrangements.
I've taken some photos and await the skill of DH.

I wondered about sedum too jura. Also sempervivum too, some of which have tall flowers.

Next years evening primrose? The tall ones are biennial. Smell lovely....but quite a messy plant

Fennel. To post a photo is easy. You click on the paperclip icon under where you type?. You can then take a photo with your phone or scroll through your photos to choose. Click on the photo you want, and it appears as if by magic.
Hope that's helpful, if not, just ignore me.?

I think it could be sea holly.
I watched the recent Gardener's World on iplayer and it appeared and Carol mentioned it.
Wait and see how it develops.
@Minimoon thanks. My problem is how to get the picture from the camera onto the computer. I don't have a smartphone.

Fennel, just Google the make/model of camera to find out.

Thanks Hetty - I think I need some kind of 'Dongle'.
I used to belong to photobucket, but left when they started to charge.

If you remove the SD card from your camera and stick it in the computer slot, you can follow the on screen prompts to load your selected photo(s). For my laptop, they then appear in Windows pictures file, which comes up when you click on 'choose file' beneath your post.

Please can I join in here? A new plant has appeared in my garden, and I don't recognise it. Can anyone help?

Lindsay10, could that be a strawberry that has self-seeded?

Lindsay10 - that looks like a potentilla. Can be very pretty and come in shades of red, pink, orange and yellow.

Lindsay10- Agree that is probably a potentilla. Very easy to grow from seed.

First pic looks like dock leaf.2nd pic is teasel(or early stages of thistle?)

There’s an app called Picture This available on Google Play Store. You just take a photo of the plant or flower and it’ll name it for you.

Original plant is teasel. They are biennial, so you’ll have the prickly inflorescence next year.
Second plant? I think it’s a potentilla, but the weed variety!

OP I immediately thought of Sea Holly, I have some in my garden at the moment, Lindsay, yours could be creeping cinquefoil?

I have recently downloaded the free App ‘Pl@ntNet’. Just take a photo of your mystery plant and it will identify it for you. Works every time.

Marsh cinquefoil looks like your picture Lindsay10. It's a wild plant, probably self seeded in your garden.

There are so many plant experts on here. I've been fascinated by botany since my teen years, for O level biology.
