And even better in beef fat.

I use “real” potatoes in our air fryer.

They’ll never be like good old fashioned chips as they are not deep fried in vats of oil, but not bad at all.

frozen chips are convenient, but never as tasty as peeled potatoes

Most supermarkets have "fry chips" though you have to look for them as most bags are oven chip these days. You can make from scratch, but only some varieties of potatoes make good chips.

My old mum swore by King Edward’s potatoes for chips. The deep fat fryer was always kept on the cooker top but I don’t think she used lard.

Our lovely neighbour , old Mrs P , made the chips from potato’s and they were cooked in lard. Oh gosh they were tasty. 🤤 Another thing she did wasc, slide a toast on to a poker and grill them on her open fire- another tasty snack

Why peel the potatoes? just chip them with the skins on.

I buy thin frozen ones and cook in the air fryer. Usually really good.

I still have a chip pan in a cupboard.
It hasn’t been used for many years, but oh were they good?
I used beef dripping.
I eventually stopped just because of the way the house would smell of chip fat for hours afterwards.
Oven chips or airfryer ones just can’t compare and I just really eat chips when eating out which also is a rare event now.

I make my own chips in the oven. Just like roast potatoes but a different shape.

My son was friends with a boy whose large family were very rough and ready. Son was about 13 and this boy asked him if he wanted some chips. The boy walked up the garden dug up a couple of big spuds and gave them a wipe, sliced them up and cooked them in the chip pan. Son thought this was awesome and said they tasted great.

We occasionally use our deep fat frier using frozen oven chips.

They taste fine.

We buy crinkle cut oven chips from the coop own brand.

I buy mccains chips from tesco. they're really nice to eat - crisp on the outside and soft in the middle. I usually get the straight cut ones.

Chips from our youth were fried in Beef Dripping so it might not be wise to go down that path.

Have tried cooking chips all manner of ways and eaten them from numerous chippys but none taste as good as my ol’ mum’s chips, and she wasn’t the greatest cook. Could be that my taste buds aren’t the same.
Am sure many of you will recall the condiments on the dinner table, salt, pepper, ketchup, brown sauce, salad cream, and because my dad loved it a jar of piccalili. People don’t tend to put these on the table anymore.

Fallingstar. My mum used King Edward, I used Golden Wonder, bothused beef dripping for the fryer. Goodness, going back a good few years making your own deep fried chips. Next it will be fish in batter.

Or corned beef fritters.

Hope you’ve got a good fire blanket, many domestic fires are caused by chip pans
