Can you remember your first cadburys Cream Egg?

1970 too, just arrived in London. Made me feel sick- never again.

I used to love them but now find they are a bit too sweet and sickly. So long ago, I can’t actually remember the first. The ones here probably taste a bit different because I believe we use different types of sugar.

In the mid seventies,when I was at uni in Glasgow, I took part in a research project to find out what cream egg flavours people liked. I had to taste lots of different eggs and answer questions about them. I remember enjoying the caramel one and an orange one. Great fun.

I have never had one. Am I missing something?

I don't know if it was a Cadbury creme egg but I've never forgotten it. It was in the mid 1940's and I remember an Easter egg the same size as the Cadbury creme eggs. This egg had a thick caramel filling, surrounded by a solid chocolate shell. Where it came from is a mystery as sweets were rationed. It was so delicious. I've tried caramel eggs over the years but nothing compares to the egg I was given as a three year old.

I never had one, never fancied it at all..?

A Cadbury Creme Egg is a chocolate confection produced in the shape of an egg, originating from the British chocolatier Fry in 1963 before being renamed by Cadbury in 1971. The product consists of a thick chocolate shell containing an enzymatically-derived sweet white and yellow filling that resembles fondant. .

The fondant for creme eggs is produced in the Yeast factory in our village. I have tried to support the local economy by buying them to give to others. Personally, I cannot eat them. They are overloaded with sweetness, Just YUK. I much prefer plain chocolate. I justify consuming small amounts because it contains lots of iron.

I loved Needlers cream eggs. Larger than Cadbury filled with fondant not runny.

Aldom, was it a Mackintosh's egg, based on the Golden Cup bars? I adored them.
That was in the 1960s, I think.

Grandmabatty, I was a taster for a toffee variety of Wispa. I thought I had died and gone to heaven!

Late 60s I remember thinking it's was unbelievable and such a treat. It made my buttons egg pale into insignificance.

Two of my favourites, crème eggs and walnut whips, leaving the walnut to eat when the whip was finished.

Both seem so much smaller now?

My first was Fry's which I believe was bought over by Cadbury. Yep, I'm that old!

I had a thing about creme eggs when pregnant and couldn’t get enough.
It was February and I was in hospital for 3 weeks and visitors bought them knowing how many I was getting through.
There were various coloured wrappers back then - and I saved the pink ones until last (my favourite).

No can’t bear them. Too sickly and somehow waxy and oily.
I really like the brands hotel chocolate and Tony’s, I must see if they do eggs ? ?

I love Cadbury’s Creme Eggs but wish they only sold them at Easter time. They were a treat to look forward to but they’re available practically the whole year round now.

No idea when I first had one. Presumably I was unimpressed.

I do not have a sweet tooth and have never particularly liked chocolate, which probably explains why I do not have any memories of them.

Have always disliked them immensely not keen on chocolate and the rest to me is dead yukky
