What will you spread on pancakes?

I usually do lemon juice and sugar , but a request has been for a certain hazelnut chocolate spread

If any of the DGC are here we get the electric griddle out and they make their own with ALL the toppings including fruit, Nutella and syrup.

Tossing the pancakes is obligatory !!

Nothing but lemon and sugar will do for me and mine on Shrove Tuesday. At other times of the year I can be pretty inventive. One of my favourites is fresh raspberries and low fat creme fraiche (sorry, no accents - don't know where they are on my iMac!). Another is mashed banana and honey with yoghurt.

Maple syrup.

For me it has to be just granulated sugar. Nothing else. DH likes maple syrup on his though.

We are having a pancake supper for church funds starting with home made soup, followed by pancakes with lemon & sugar or golden syrup. We are catering for sixty.

Never make pancakes, I would have to eat them. If I had a pancake it would be damson jam!

Pancake day was always a trial when we were kids. Teflon coating was unheard of so at least the first pancake stuck to the pan and came off in bits. My mother found it very stressful indeed as we'd all be watching and waiting! I made pancakes on Saturday while I was visiting my daughter in Bristol. Lemon and sugar for us but the 14 month old wouldn't have them at any price! I'll make them again tonight now that I'm home. I'll share them with No.1 Son this time.

Has anyone found a way to make a pile and keep them warm in the oven without them sticking together. I hate having to stand making one for DH and then make one for me while he eats it and comes back for more. Ad infinitum.

Layer them with greaseproof paper jingl. One year I made then in advance, froze them in piles of 10 (5 children, DS2 could eat up to 15 in one go!) layered with greaseproof, thawed and then reheated in the oven. Can't remember the details but I do remember it being much less stressful than having a row of gannets hopeful children sitting waiting.

I'm cheating this year and using Mrs Crimble mix. We have them with lemon and caster sugar though some years DH gets daring and has chocolate spread!
