My friend's daughter is a nurse. She came home yesterday with a cough and feeling unwell, so she went for a Covid test. The results will take 2 or 3 days (possibly 5) to come back. NHS will not pay for faster testing for their staff "to save money". While my friend's daughter (who gets paid around £12.00 pr hour) is off the NHS will have to pay an agency nurse to do her job at £30 per hour. Is the NHS reluctance to pay for faster testing a false economy? Another friend's son works in a private school in London and he can get a fast test as he is considered a key worker - but it seems nurse is not! Madness.
