Good morning from a dry, dawning Bristol. It was hot yesterday, especially with the day-long cloud cover.
r&l, you will be much in my thoughts today, you and the surgical team. 🫂
Nothing much to report. Today, I’ll be baking for the FAB cafe now monthly live concert 🎶 tomorrow. I start early - 830ish and am usually done by 11 at the latest, before it get too hot. The rest of the day is empty.
I’ve started to assemble the quilt I’ve been making, so a lot of hand sewing.
Keeps safe in this return of heat, mountaineers especially.
Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩🦩

r&l thinking of you today

Bellasnana Tue 04-Aug-26 06:05:35

Good morning from Malta where it is already 29°C in my living room. The high today is 40°C.

I didn’t manage to post yesterday as my two Treasures had me on a string!😅. They were as good as gold but I was worn out by the time DD3 picked them up after lunch having enjoyed her concert and lie-in!

A lovely young man came to measure for the blinds for the patio doors in the living room. They are eye-wateringly expensive but worth it I think and will be more use than the net curtain I’ve had for ten years and am sick of!

Today I have a hair appointment after which I shall join my youngest nephew and family who are over here on holiday from Kent. DD3 and the boys will be having lunch with them and I will join them for coffee. My nephew and DD3 were born a day apart and he has a little boy a bit older than our two.

My thoughts are also with you RosesandLilac. You have been so incredibly brave whilst enduring an agonisingly long wait and we are all with you today and in the days that follow.🙏🏻

Wishing a good day to you all.☀️

Good morning from s somerset, cloudy today, I hope

I feel like a passenger on the earth at the moment, there is an awful lot going on causing mass upset in molecules, structures, formations and so on. No wonder so many people feel overwhelmed by it all. Huge energies from the sun and from below the sea, it is all affecting us and how we feel and our ability to cope

A day at a time, our brave *Rosesand Lilac* is a shining example of that

I went to bed last night thinking about someone I know, 45 and has a very sudden diagnosis of an aggressive cancer after doubling up in pain and unable to get a doctors appointment. I woke up thinking about her too

Today, I will just potter

GrannyGravy13 Tue 04-Aug-26 06:20:17

Good morning Mick and all 🙋‍♀️

I have no plans today, which is unusual in the school holidays. I should attempt the ironing, but who knows 🤷‍♀️

Rosesandlilac will keep everything crossed for you today 🤞🏻🌹🪻

Grandmabatty Tue 04-Aug-26 06:21:01

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 14° and pouring rain. Bellasnana blinds will make a big difference. GrandMattie I hope the baking goes well. Rosesandlilac we are all thinking of you today.
Yesterday was a quiet day with dgs2. When we dropped off dgs1 at his friend's house, dgs2 was so upset. He wanted his brother. He was quite subdued for a while. Dsil picked him up earlier than usual and immediately claimed the peanut butter cookies! He can fight with dgs1 for those.
Today dgs1 has football camp. I will drop him off at 10 then take dgs2 to soft play for an hour or so. Then back to my house to play until it's time to get his brother. Have a good day all.

Good morning all from a cloudy but warm North Leicestershire.

Early start as DH has another early drive. I will have a lazy start and then I am meeting some choir friends for coffee and cake. This afternoon I have a shoulder massage booked.

DS2 didn't make it here on Sunday so is popping in this afternoon.

Thinking of Rosesandlilac.

Gagagran Tue 04-Aug-26 06:52:59

Good Morning everyone with special thoughts of Roses today. It is already very warm and there is seemingly no end in sight to the heat and drought here on the central south coast.

This morning, DH has to take his hearing aid in for service - the battery is not recharging. We have booked lunch out across the road at our lovely cafe/restaurant afterwards. I enjoyed the meal I had there with our DGD1 last week so much that DH suggested we go again. It is his birthday tomorrow but he is out with his cycle club then so today will be an early celebration.

We have both had a win on the premium bonds too, so another birthday treat. I really do not want to win the big million pound prize, with all the concern about how to use it. I do enjoy checking each month to see if we have had our usual small wins though.

Wishing everyone the best day possible, especially those with struggles or worries of any kind. May there be some relief and comfort for all.

ginny Tue 04-Aug-26 06:53:30

Good morning, already warm again in N. Bucks.
Yesterday was good with the boys. They especially enjoyed painting pictures on large stones . They decided that they would ‘plant’ them around their garden.
Today we just have 10 year old DGS. Possibly a trip to the canal museum , lunch and a boat trip.
Thinking of R&L and any other poorly GNs and wishing all a good day.

Ladyleftfieldlover Tue 04-Aug-26 06:56:54

Morning all from West Oxfordshire. It reached 30 degrees again yesterday but should ‘only’ be 27 today!

I am thinking of R&L today and praying that all goes well.

I finally picked up my ceramic cat yesterday. At the moment it is on display in my bedroom.

I will visit friends this afternoon. I didn’t see them last week as my cough and cold were at their height. OH’s is still awful. He is asthmatic so things take longer to clear up.

Have a good day.

luluaugust Tue 04-Aug-26 06:57:32

Good morning from W Kent where DH and I are momentarily on our own. DD1 and SIL have gone to friends in Essex and DB has gone home so he can go on holiday! I shall go to art group and have a good chat.
R&L thinking of you
Best wishes to all

harrigran Tue 04-Aug-26 06:57:52

Good morning from the NE where it is raining and 15°. It is forecast to reach 23° this afternoon but with thunder.
Nothing planned for today so I will just tidy round and start another novel.
Thoughts are with RosesandLilac today.

Greyduster Tue 04-Aug-26 07:00:39

Good morning Michael and all GNs from a damp South Yorkshire. We had rain overnight at last and more expected today. R&L thinking of you. You will be in good hands.

I went to the gym early yesterday and then came home and made jam. A kilo of plums made four jars of jam. I shall make more this week but first I’m going to invest in a sugar thermometer to see if I can take some of the guesswork out of it.

Nothing much on the cards today - I shall see how it unfolds.

Have the best day you can folks.

Gelisa Tue 04-Aug-26 07:04:46

Good morning from a damp Morecambe Bay. A clap of thunder woke me earlier and the rain followed - for about 30 seconds! The long hoped for downpour hasn’t materialised.
I’m off to the osteopath this morning. He’s worked wonders on my back. It’s a pity there’s no osteopathy on the NHS. It was the NHS physio who suggested an osteopath could help my back which surprised me me.
He usually treats me from his home which is close to where I live but today’s appointment is over the border into Cumbria at his main practice so we may make z as day of it. DH will walk CDog while I have my treatment then we will drive on somewhere hopefully not too busy.
Thinking of R&L today and wishing her a speedy recovery.
Take care everyone 🌸

Ashcombe Tue 04-Aug-26 07:07:49

Good morning from an overcast and cooler Torbay.

As soon as I awake I thought of RosesandLilac facing her surgery today. I do hope all goes ahead as planned and I’ll be upholding you and the surgical team in prayer, dear lady.

A morning at Props then some errands to complete, especially a few jobs we’ve neglected recently (like ironing for me!) and a blind that requires DH’s attention.

Wishing everyone a good day,

🦩💐🥰💐🦩

Redcar Tue 04-Aug-26 07:13:29

Good morning everyone from mid Essex., another hot sunny day forecast. I went for a walk yesterday morning, but even at 9.30 it was warm. I had to go to DD2’s after my walk to collect some documents she’d printed for me. A difficult journey home, with roadworks closing a major route out of the city.
Some idiot was setting off a lot of fireworks at 11 last night!

Nothing much planned for today, but will see my dementia friend later.

Thinking of rosesandlilac this morning and hoping that all goes according to plan with her operation. Wishing her a complete and speedy recovery.

Thinking of all our poorly grans and those with worries of any kind and hoping for some relief for them soon.

Have the best day you can everyone.

BlueSapphire Tue 04-Aug-26 07:15:34

Good morning everyone from an overcast day in Northampton, but it should brighten up later. It was very warm all day yesterday and I did very little except from go to yoga and read.
I rang the security alarm people and they sent someone out mid-afternoon to fix a faulty back door sensor - all done free of charge.

I have an appointment at the vets this morning with one of the cats who is being funny about her food. Normally a voracious eater she is turning her nose up at almost everything except her treats. My kind neighbour will take us.

FGT2 your post yesterday mentioning Hollingworth Lake brought back memories of late DH's extended family. He came from Bury but had many relations in Rochdale; I remember going to the wedding of a cousin who had her reception at a hotel(?) next to the lake; it was the first time I had met that side of the family and was amazed by how welcoming and friendly they all were. There were so many of them!

Thinking of Roses today. 💐💐

Wishing all a pleasant day.

grandMattie Tue 04-Aug-26 07:26:45

My veg “garden” and my pots.

brook2704 Tue 04-Aug-26 07:26:48

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s grey with light rain, feels a bit cooler too
Thinking of rosesandlilac today
It’s back to the gym today, there’s aerobics followed by line dancing and then coffee with a gym pal. I’ll do the usual riverside walk into town and then get the bus home
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

Jaxjacky Tue 04-Aug-26 07:27:17

Morning, sun and cloud in S Hants this morning, not so hot as yesterday. The voluntary phone was very quiet, I must update my stats in a minute.
My daughter and grandchildren are here later for lunch, she’s insisting on bringing/preparing food, a pleasant few hours ahead. Perhaps they’ll take a courgette home!
R&L 👍.
Take care all.

Good morning everyone from south Manchester where 26°C is our forecast. Mind you it’s not sunny yet just warm, with white cloud.

I’ve no plans until 6pm when I’m meeting a friend here for drinks and Lebanese food.

To be honest I’m glad of the prospect of a quiet day ahead. This week is too full on. I’ve racked and stacked social events every day till Sunday. Lesson learned.

Plus all this eating & drinking, both here and Málaga has shown up on the bathroom scales. I’ve gained a full stone since Himself died in February. Time to rein myself in.
