Good morning from a still dry, but much milder Bristol.
Mick, there are two types of prostate enlargement; it seems that you have the one that one “die ps with”, i.e. to dangerous, rather than the one DH had, which one “dies of”, and is cancerous. Good luck.
Yesterday was going well for me until… I went to the next village to the library before getting my new glasses in “town”. As I walked down the horrible hill, my left ankle suddenly gave way, twisted inwards and threw me down. I picked myself up and limped the other 10 minutes to the library. Uncomfortable, but my grazed knee was more painful, and my annoyance at my wrecked African print trousers was too!
While waiting to catch the bus for my glasses, I looked down at my sore ankle and realised it was hugely swollen. Bummer! Got off the bus, went to Boots for a compression bandage and some platers, patched myself up and got my new glasses.
Once returned home, limping, I just sat with my elevated foot for as much as possible, got cold compresses, and rested according to instructions..
It is hardly painful, just background, unless I move around when it is uncomfortable, but tolerable. I’m plastering it with Arnica whenever I think about it, which seems to be doing the job.
I had a pretty good night considering.
I’m meeting my FAB friend for coffee this morning. I’ll take it easy re. walking. The afternoon is free.

So sorry to hear of your fall grandMattie. Sounds as though you are taking care of yourself but I’m sending a big hug as I know the aftermath of a fall can be distressing. 💐

Had a surprise visit from DD3 and the boys yesterday which was lovely. It’s not often DD3 stays as she’s usually rushing off somewhere, so I enjoyed all three of my Treasures!

This morning DGS1 has occupational therapy so I will be having his brother. It’s super-hot today so I doubt we shall be able to go out, the park is far too hot at the moment, but we will find something to do indoors.

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from South Yorkshire where it is a cool start and the sun has risen in a clear blue sky. It will, however, not be so warm today. Glad they seem to be on top of your health issue quickly Mick.

Yesterday’s group walk was very enjoyable but the walk leader is known for setting a very fast pace to cover more ground which is a mixed blessing as you don’t have time to take in your surroundings - you’re too busy watching your feet. I stayed for coffee afterwards and then went to DD’s for lunch. I came home and had one last trawl in the lanes for blackberries. There’s something very soothing about picking blackberries - if you disregard the scratches!

Today I may go into town on the bus. I still have a Waterstones voucher burning a hole in my pocket.

Good morning from Stockport where I have been awake since before 3.
I doubt I shall get any more sleep so a nap after lunch seems likely.
My new cleaners came yesterday, 3 young women who worked quickly and well.
It didn’t take long as I only had downstairs and the bathroom done.
I shall have them two weekly from now on.
A quiet day today which promises to be cooler, hooray.

We had a lovely day yesterday with the boys. We went to a local park that has animals, a good playground ,ducks to feed and a nice café. They had a great time. I took a football. They had fun scoring goals against Grandad who was in the net. Hopefully they were suitably exhausted when they went home for bedtime.
I’ve just woken up so I am a bit late for the Friday big cleanup. I’ll just give a bit of a flick around this morning. It’s not too bad.

My friend is coming round for coffee. It’s always a pleasure to see her. After 50 years you’d think we would have run out of things to say.

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 8° and sunny. It is noticeably cooler this morning which suits me. GrandMattie poor you! I hope you take things easier today.
Yesterday the haircut went well. My lovely hairdresser made a really good job of the little hair I have. He gave me a tin of free hair spray too.
Afterwards I pottered about the house and sorted out some paperwork.
Today dd is picking me up and we are going for coffee after she drops off dgs1 at football camp. Then I might resort to weed pulling. The garden bin is emptied today. I have chicken curry for dinner which I will have with noodles. Enjoy your day all.

My long cycle ride was lovely, apple orchards, old manor houses, a massive, manicured farm with big gates and cottages, a very old beautiful orangery. I am glad they look after the history of the area. I was also grateful to still have energy in my legs as some hills are long and steep, in spite of e biking

Yesterday was busy, one of those days when a lot was done but not planned and I am making marvelous headway with de-cluttering my bedroom and wardrobe storage

I finished the first interlock T shirt and what a tremendously difficult fabric to sew. Fawn and with 3/4 sleeves. It feels so soft, silky and smooth on and is fine, luxurious and with stretch. I kept remembering the interlock vests we used to have but they were not so fine and were probably made from short-staple cotton. I have another to make today in pale blush and with long sleeves. Both will be very useful as undergarments, or as a layer with a pinafore dress, or to wear with a cardigan. I have a white length arriving from Germany soon, enough for three more long-sleeved T shirts. Pure luxury

I don`t think I will be going on a dedicated walk today, I clock up many 000s of steps just by being busy here, no guilt from me and I can be outside in my garden whenever I want

Good morning everyone from a wet Lancashire. The garden will be positively slurping up the raindrops.

Had a nice outing yesterday morning to a local cafe. The 2 ladies we met have known each other since high school, so lots of shared history, but they manage to share anecdotes in a way I don't feel out of the loop.

I did succumb to choosing some wool in the attached wool shop to make a cardigan with ducks on for the little chap. I made a start on the back last night and have done the blue 'pond' so far.

When DH got back from the office we did our civic duty and walked to the polling station to vote for the Manchester Mayor.

Today a friend is coming over with her baby girl. I had hoped we could be in the garden, but we'll have to see.
Later this afternoon, DD is coming here for a few days. We chat weekly and exchange WhatsApps but it will be nice to just have her around.

So sorry to hear about your tumble, GrandMattie. How annoying about your fabulous trousers too. Could you convert them into shorts?

Glad the cleaners were a success, Usedtobeblonde. We inherited my MiL's cleaner after she died. She comes fortnightly and does a specific area depending on need and sometimes does some ironing. She's a gem!

Good morning from a very still, cool Cornwall where the weather is now bearable. Yesterday was a day of two halves with lovely heavy rain in the morning, bemusing my newest young robin as he hopped around my patio, then the sun came out in time for our family trip to St Ives. We stayed until the little beach lost the sun. As usual the place was magical, with such amazing light. I've been there so many times I always expect to get used to it but it always moves me. The children were in and out of the sea for hours. My grandson caught two large spider crabs and took them home for supper.

Today is the last day of my nephews' holiday and I must work hard on the china horse my ex and I have mended so that it can go back to London with them.

I wasn’t too impressed with the new dental hygienist. She was pleasant and gentle but not as professional as the previous one. I do resent being asked about my dental routine at home as if I’m a child! Sigh!

My DS rang later so I enjoyed catching up with his news.

Today I’m seeing a chiropodist as my arthritic knees are making it too difficult to deal with my feet. DH would help but he’s not always here and there is a podiatry practice within walking distance of my flat.

Good morning, we had a light rain shower last night , it lasted all of five minutes. We had just set the table on the patio ready for dinner, and DH had lit the BBQ. Change if plan, dinner was cooked in the kitchen, and that is where we ate.

I am off to the gym first thing, a nail appointment at lunchtime. Then a free afternoon (so far).

We are going to the local Malayan restaurant for dinner this evening.

My pre op went well, 3 hours of tests, an armful of blood taken and dozens of questions answered. Apparently I am very fit for a 72 year old 😁. I’m nervous 😬
All set now for surgery on Tuesday….🫣
Housework, a quick trip to the hairdresser for a trim and fish and chips for dinner I think today.

Good Morning everyone. It feels a bit cooler here on the central south coast, which is very pleasant after all the heat we have had. Still no sign or rain.

So sorry and much sympathy GrandMattie for the fall you suffered, My WI friend calls those of us who have had falls "the fallen women" which always makes me smile! Welcome to the club! Hope the arnica helps heal you quickly.

I have a hair appointment this afternoon and it is much needed. Like my nails, my hair seems to grow more quickly in the sunshine.

Our Tesco delivery is due this morning and I hope there are no unavailable items. Apparently the drought conditions are having an effect on food supplies to the supermarkets.

I can’t believe it’s the last day of July, can you?

Good morning everyone from south Manchester where a sunny day is forecast and a high of (only) 20°C.

L’il Miss is being dropped off here at 8am so her mum can go into work for the day. She will be teaching a different age group from a new classroom in September and needs to go in to set everything up in preparation.

My stepfather is finally turning a corner from the shingles he contracted a month ago. He’s been wiped out with it but I suppose at 94 and self caring, that’s to be expected.

Early evening I'm meeting my friend neighbour who was widowed mid May. We are going downstairs to our favourite bar for one, before going round the corner to eat in the Lebanese restaurant. The food is delicious and I think we are both addicted! I’m new to Fatoush salad, it’s gorgeous.

Good morning from a cooler and cloudy Black Country.

Yesterday it actually rained for about 2 hours late morning/early afternoon. Then within a couple of hours it was sunny and you wouldn't have known.

Arrived about 25 minutes early for my Mammogram, but was seen straight away and was out within 10 mins. Just a few seconds of discomfort.

Today we are out for a meal at a local(ish) Gastro Pub, as they emailed me a £25 off voucher for being a loyal customer. Only ever been there once before in February

Morning all from West Oxfordshire. We had rain last evening! Quite a lot of it. It wasn’t forecast and came out of the blue.

My cough and cold haven’t cleared yet. I didn’t collect my ceramic cat and I cancelled book group. Someone popped round with next month’s book. I am not a particularly good patient! I have had to cancel several things this week. I am supposed to be going on a WI theatre trip this evening. I will give it until lunchtime before making a final decision:
