Don’t shout but I bought my first jar of mincemeat today! And even worse, mince pie making is on my ‘to do’ list for tomorrow. Oops!
In my defence, I make them for all the family and ex-work colleagues and they have been voted the best ever (fact, not bragging!!) so I make more and more each year by demand.
Makes me laugh every year as the person I originally begged the recipe from refused to give it to me so I had to watch her from a distance and secretly write it down. Very mean-minded and actually, perfected over the years, mine are far better than hers ever were!
Too tiring to make hundreds in one go so I start early and do a dozen here and there from back to school week onwards.
Thank heavens for trusty freezers.
