Happy Autumn

I agree but, somehow, it's come too soon for me this year.

I suppose it depends which autumn date you go for. The autumn equinox is 23 rd September this year, today is the meteorological one. I tend to go with the former 😁

I feel the same as you Mischief13. Autumn is my favourite season and September to December are my four favourite months of the year. Usually I am a stickler for the new season starting on the 21st the way we were taught at school but for Autumn I allow myself to believe it starts on the 1st September to gain 3 more weeks. Aveline I really don't think it has come too soon, summer started in late April/early May and has gone on forever.

I just go with the earliest date that I can just so that in my mind it is Autumn.

I have SAD in reverse so today my mood has lifted dramatically. I can't bear the anti social behaviour that goes with light nights.

No. I love the spring and summer. Autumn depresses me, everything in the garden is dying, the days are getting shorter and it’s getting colder and raining, months of spending most time inside are ahead, I don’t get what is there to like about that.

My garden has been dying since July Casdon with the extreme heat here in the south.
I do like Autumn, particularly the darker mornings, I get more sleep, but it’s been a sudden jump down in temperature this year, ten degree drop in two weeks.

I hate the darker evenings, the garden is looking bedraggled and colourless and i really hate spending days on end in the house. Bring on Spring.

I agree with Tanith.
I hate the long dark evenings and short days. I hate having to bundle up in jumpers, coats, gloves etc.
Sadly in general we have so much more of the dull damp days.
I don’t like to wish my life away but roll on spring and especially summer.

September is a pleasant month, and I like Autumn generally anyway.
This particular Summer has put me off future Summers tbh.

In general I sort of like all the seasons, but don’t like long dark nights, or the long cold which only seems to warm up in June - although this year was different.

I always start planning next years garden in autumn, but this year it is a real conundrum, as I have decided to plant a bed of drought tolerant plants - but - they hate the wet which we get in abundance now all winter.

I love autumn too, my favourite season unfortunately I think we are in for another heatwave. Hope it is shortlived.

I dread the endless grey skies and the juggling of coats/jackets/gloves/footwear that autumn and winter brings. I hate being cold, too. Autumn is often very nice indeed but I suppose what it presages is what gets me down.

I think what I dislike the most in autumn and winter are those grey leaden skies which seem to go on day after day. It never seems to get light all day and I feel closed in by them. I also dislike the strong winds we are prone to. I love the bright, cold days with blue sky and sunshine, but we don’t seem to get as many of those days.

In the summer, I find the terrific humid heat hard to cope with, give me temps about 24 degrees C with a light breeze and I’m happy.

I think the nights are drawing in quite quickly now, too.

The equinoxes are actually the centre of each season. The point when the earth stops rotating towards/away from the sun and starts rotating away/towrds the sun, so Autumn started on August 7th, However I am very happy to compromise on 1st Septemeber

I see Autumn as a time of renewal. I am off to join the local Local History this evening, while DH is off to join a choir

I am signed up for various events, classes and lectures and plan to add more.

I love A|utumn, the smll of autumn, drifting in to the smells of Christmas, warm fires, hot soups and casseroles

Moving the furniture in the living room tomorrow, for a cosier winter arrangement.
Love it, but then I love moving it back for the summer so we can have the door to the decking open and the pond lights on.
