I know Gransnet is mainly a UK‑based community, but I’ve often wondered if there are members who join us from across the Atlantic. It would be lovely to hear from anyone posting from the United States — whether you’ve lived there all your life, moved there recently, or are just visiting. I’m curious about how you find being part of a mostly UK forum, and what made you decide to join Gransnet. Please do share a little about yourself if you’re happy to, it would be wonderful to know we have voices from America in the mix.

I think there are a couple though I haven’t seen them lately. Hope they are going ok.

Kriz sounds very bot-like?

New name. Is there a way of checking?

I don’t know, but there are one or two other posts on other threads which sound exactly the same - just like ChatGPT .

However I do apologise if I’m wrong.

It is an interesting question though. Does it matter if we end up talking to computers? Personally I think it does if we don’t know whether it is a machine or human.

I see Trump has stopped the latest version of AI - which of course the USA owns them all - from being exported - anywhere. This will give the USA a massive advantage - a bit like us still in the steam age and the USA fully electrified and then some.

Hello, Dear GN friends. I live in the US in Germantown TN. I'm widowed, 80 years of age and read your posts every day. Retired but miss working! I am a musician but arthritic hands have interfered mightily!
I have enjoyed GN for 3 or so years but don't quite remember how I happened upon the site. Leading quite a dull life, I post very infrequently. But love reading about the doings of all you busy folks.
A lovely group here who seem to genuinely care about each other. Also appreciate knowing the books you recommend and look forward to seeing pics of your gardens and travels.
Long may Gransnet continue! You inspire me!

I’ve started a thread - I got my information from TRIP which has been running a series about AI.

So I am assuming it is correct.

According to Stewart - the U.K. is third in this race, but so far behind the front runners are out of sight.

Whitewavemark2 Good Morning to you too! Yes, I play the violin but these days, I listen to music more than play it!
