What will Labour do? (They will soon be running the country).
The benefits system is where the rubber meets the road of a socialist state. The assumption is that a beneficent state can help the vulnerable person- catch them in the safety net & put him right and on his way.
Well it doesn’t work that way in practice. It’s much easier to give a man a fish than to teach him how to fish and massive government bureaucracies are incapable of doing even simple things well as we all know.
With perhaps the best of intentions, our welfare state has promoted dependency, single parenting, social isolation & a victim culture. That safety net is catching people but not releasing them.
Big Government is no substitute for independent, responsible families & communities looking out for themselves and has grown to the point where it is now their enemy.
