Good Morning Friday 15th September 2023

Good morning, Michael and any other early birds from a still dark South Yorkshire, but we are promised a fine day. We had a lovely dinner out yesterday evening; DH would have loved it. I had to drive home in the dark though, which I didn’t love. Dark evenings - a sign that winter is on its way.
I have nothing particular to do today except to shift some dust, so may drive out and have a walk somewhere.

Good morning from a still dark corner of the Sarthe. A sunny day is forecast. Yesterday began with mist/fog which took a few hours to clear.

My right hip (resurfaced in 2005) is causing me problems. It’s the one I fell on in late August but it only started hurting badly a week later, after I had arrived in France. I fear the joint has loosened. As ever, alcohol gives more relief than any pain killer!

To those with more serious pain or worries of any kind, I wish relief. 🦩🥰🦩💐🦩

DH is crashing around getting ready to go out for the day 😡, why on earth does he have to be so noisy! Dog walker this morning so I will do more gardening. Everything is so dry but the roses are looking wonderful.

Good morning from a still dark South Downs. A sunny and glorious warm day is forecast. Yesterday it was absolutely perfect. Totally still, warm early autumn day. We walked along the river Adur bank, listening to the blackhead gulls (who have lost their black heads for the winter). The dog had a sedate full body paddle and then a roll in Marcus Wareing’s samphire😄.

I’m very early this morning as I went to bed at 8pm so that I could get sufficient sleep given the fact that I have been tramping the streets every night for the last week with the dog and his upset tummy. But we went to the vet yesterday - just an upset tummy as I thought, but he did given him anti-biotics and whether just one dose did it - which I doubt - the dog is still snoring gently in his bed with no nightly sojourn.

Today, will be a day in the garden to begin the great autumn clear-up. More daffs to be planted.
I must also phone the hospital to arrange the pre-op blood test - I have tried mailing, but no reply.
Today is meat day - so stir-fry chilli beef with sweet potato jackets. Possibly apple and blackberry crumble with ice cream - but I really ought to lose weight before my operation.

Good morning from North Wales where we have stayed with DD overnight.

We had to cut our break in Scotland short.As we were driving back to our holiday let after a lovely day at The Falkirk Wheel and The Kelpies we had a message from our neighbour to say the overflow from the loft was pouring water🤦🏼‍♀️Another neighbour turned off the water from outside.The plumbing company we use very kindly said they could come out at 8am today otherwise it would be Monday so we travelled here yesterday.

We had a lovely few days and definitely plan a return visit next year as lots still to explore.

I was sorry to see your mum has Covid Grandmabatty.I hope she is doing ok and that you haven’t caught it.

Good morning from a dark Bristol. We are promised a warm day, but it is 11C at the moment. Autumn creeping in.
I’m so sorry about your hip, Ash. I hope it improves soon, though you won’t need to stop the “medication”, will you?
My bathroom saga carries on; the plumber/contractor wrote a stinking letter to the poor warden. She’s only the monkey not the organ grinder, yet all the sh.t falls on her. It’s most unfair. I’m also still waiting for a reply to my letter to her boss, written early last week.
Today, Iris is taking part in a local primary school girl football tournament. I’m so pleased that she has the confidence to join the teams. Show how much better and stronger her leg is, despite wearing a splint.
I’m starting my Spanish classes, feeling trepidacious. If I take the bus, I pay and it would take over an hour. If I walk, it’s free and it would take about 35 minutes.. my upstairs neighbour is taking me in this morning so I know where it is and what it looks like. Very kind of her.

A touch of Turner in the sunrise this morning.

Morning all from West Oxfordshire. After yesterday’s shenanigans I was exhausted and slept though to 6 am. In a nutshell: 3 hours to drive to Oxford instead of half an hour (accident/road works), then darting between the bank and the building society, all because the bank refused to clear a cheque the building society had printed off too faintly. All sorted in the end. I went to a friend’s for the evening and had wine and nibbles. Today I must finish baking a cake I started on Wednesday. A fruit and marzipan cake. Yum. OH will be out all day shooting targets. I have bits of shopping to do and hopefully a more relaxing day than yesterday. At one point I said to the Building Society clerk that I could either burst into tears or scream and scream! He said that he hoped I wouldn’t do either!

Yesterday I spent a really lovely afternoon chatting with a fellow Gransnetter, came home and made a huge pot of chilli, most of which I’ll take to Edinburgh today.

Thankfully childminding day doesn’t start as early as it used to as DoutL only now works for four hours on Fridays and doesn’t need to leave the house so is able to take her eldest to school before we arrive.

My sister’s husband is having surgery today, if you pray please think of him.

GM, if your flat is in a complex run by one of the bigger well-known groups, their aim is to sell to older people and make lots of money from on-going management etc. If older people know that management is neglectful then many would run a mile, hence bad publicity is what the group avoids. Start by contacting all the `age` groups you can such as ageuk. It sounds to me as though they are treading water on this and should be dealing with it as a matter of urgency. Also facebook the company, see what others are saying. You also have an mp, get him/her involved

Nothing definite today, yesterday was so nice and I will include a walk, garden enjoyment and more pattern altering today.

Morning Mick, morning All. A clear sky over our corner of Somerset.

An active day yesterday. Mr C seemed both energised and positive. Had a little walk round a big garden centre before lunch in a small one which he thoroughly enjoyed. I’m not quite believing the progress will hold yet. 🤞 See what the medics say next Thursday.

Very pleased with myself later in the day, decided to go looking (unsuccessfully) for new jeans. What did I find? Skechers at less than half prices to replace my go-to summer faithfuls, the third summer I’ve tried to find the style. These were probably buried in a stock room somewhere.

Today I plan to begin to clean the outside of the conservatory. Mr C will supervise, it may be suggested he needs a morning nap.

Go carefully with your hip ash, hope you enjoy the Spanish class grandmattie. Pleased your family meal was as you’d hoped greyd. Will be thinking of your sisters husband baubles. That was quite a day ladylfl. What a shame you had to return early susan, hope all fixed today.

Good morning all from the Black country rain overnight but I think we are in for a clear day.
Well today is our Golden wedding Anniversary and it was a beautiful sunny day. We have arranged to spend the day at the Severn Valley Railway and we shall have a meal in Bewdley.

Good morning from a sunny but cooler Cornwall. I didn't use my neck fan yesterday, first time for weeks.

Bought a pair of unworn bottle green cord dungarees in the Salvation Army shop for £6 yesterday. They felt so lovely and fitted so beautifully that I looked up the manufacturer and found that they're worth £85 and made from organic corduroy. Can't imagine how they ended up in a charity shop.

After that a quiet afternoon in a library in a different town, resting my excruciating knee and reading sewing books. Very relaxing. Today more of the same in another town in the opposite direction. Brilliant bus access to so many places from here. Am surprised anyone on this thread pays for bus journeys. Ours are free any time of the day with the Seniors bus pass. Maybe you're much younger than me! Sorry about your hip Ash. Ouch.

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 10° and damp out. Rain is falling. Ash I hope your hip settles down with the help of medicine. Susan that's a shame you had to cut short your holiday. I'm glad you enjoyed the Falkirk Wheel and The Kelpies. I love the Kelpies and the walk to the loch past squabbling ducks. Marydoll thank you. Mum is ok. I'm feeling ok so far. I'll test later today once they arrive. I'm sorry that you had a bad night.
Yesterday I did almost nothing. It felt very decadent just lying around reading or watching telly.
Today will be more of the same I think. I will do some art work and read my library book. I'm making a bacon, leek, pepper and mushroom casserole with potato gratin to use up what's in the fridge. Have a good day all
