Can't they rehash the keep Britain tidy adverts?

Terrible around here, especially on the canal bank at the back of our house. People are kind enough to feed the ducks and the throw the bread bag onto the towpath. The council don't empty the bins in the shopping centre. I am tired of complaining.

Sadly, I don't think ads like that would get through to the fly-tipping brigade.

One problem I've heard about is of councils charging for people to take certain things there.

So much of the rubbish is from the same few companies - McDonalds, Coke, Pepsi, Costas - I wish they could be made to pay for more bins and a campaign, or even better just produce less rubbish.

Yes, that bin is a typical example. Why put rubbish next to an overflowing bin. Why not find an emptier bin or just take it home with you.

Baggs, fly tipping is horrendous here it is getting worse. Someone must have done a house clearance as there was a sofa in one road, a bed round the corner, a nest of tables further down the road, a fridge freezer in another lane...all scattered about.

I live near a little back road that leads to an out of town retail park with both a McDonalds and KFC. The amount of associated litter thrown from cars is a disgrace and my late DH used to take a bag and pick up some on his daily walk, if he was able. Fly tipping really gets my goat, especially as that road also leads to the local tip! However, I believe that even if the tip was open 24/7 those fly tippers would still just dump their stuff anywhere, because they’re too lazy and ignorant!

Your right, Baggs People can’t afford to have big items taken away.
Generally speaking, people add to rubbish. So, perhaps if rubbish was cleared as it appears people might not add to it.
Many years ago I was very involved in my own clean up campaign. I got to speaking to a council official in Manchester.
This was the policy they had.
I don’t know if things have changed.

Ditto! A litter tax on the companies that produce so much of it.

I can still picture the back of junior school exercise books about not dropping litter. It was drummed into us as children I did the same with my two and they with theirs now. I wasn’t very popular at the school gate if I saw parents or their children dropping sweet wrappers I would tell them to pick them up.

We have takeaways with no bins outside to discourage dropping waste. We have a country park stretching for miles and only one dog waste bin provided where’s the logic in that?
The council used to sweep the gutters up they are never around now obviously cutting costs. It’s only a two mile trip through country lanes to the council tip. However lazy people just fly tip rubbish rather than go the tip it’s a disgrace.

Somebody fly tipped a load of household items and toys on the street in the town we used to live in. It was really good stuff - things that a charity shop could have sold. A quick witted guy posted photos of all the stuff up on local social media and people came from all over and helped themselves. My washing basket came from there - absolutely nothing wrong with it.

It's such wastefulness as well as a blooming nuisance.

Every time I go out [nearly every day] I take a spare [biodegradable] plastic bag with me and pick up plastic bottles and cans when I see them and empty it in recycle bins by the local supermarkets. I do the same on the way home and put the bottles and cans into my recycling bin.

I do it automatically now, and I often see the local voluntary pick-up lady doing her bit too. I think if certain people see clean streets it could educate/shame them...you'd hope anyway! I like to see my local area tidy.

I don't understand the mentality of those who just drop rubbish without a thought, just anti-social and plain ignorant.
