‘Let mummy check it isn’t poisonous’. This was my stock quote to stop the children having too much of a cake or something similar. No wonder I was a chub!! Caught DD saying it to DGS the other day about a doughnut?

After watching Dad doing DIY, my daughter had lots of questions.
One was about where does hair come from?
Answered with "It grows all the time through tiny holes in your skin, even when your asleep"
A long pause then, "Who hits my head with the hammer to make the holes then?"

“Is beef a cow”? “Are fish fingers the same as the fish in the sea”? When I said yes my sons became vegetarians and so did I. Only they soon changed their minds while I’m still one!

Let mommy check it first,just in-case.
They never questioned it either.

When DD1 was very small, we were practising colours. Green, red, blue all the usual routine. Then she asked me, "So what colour is the hole in my jeans?" I must admit I was stumped by that one!!

DS2, aged 3, in the bath: What are these little balls, Mum? pointing at his crotch.

My 3 year old son asked the assistant in Waitrose ‘ How do you get the meat off the animal without hurting it ? ‘
She looked horrified and didn’t answer.
No surprise that he is vegetarian.

One of my DC asked me whether deaf people could hear themselves think.

In the swimming pool changing room one very young GC asked why my boobs were 'away down there'. In my naivety, thought I was doing ok in that arena. There y'go!

Reminded me of a young nephew who (my sister said) had more than once remarked that their dog was licking his balls again.
So my sister told him that the correct word to use was testicles.

Some time later he said, ‘What was that word again, Mum? The one that means willyballs?’ ?

Needless to say, that one has entered family lore!

My one to my kids was “not even the queen has two chocolate biscuits”

Also heard the breastfeeding one with “is there ribena in the other one?”

When my second baby had to stay in SCBU for just over a week and I was sent home, I was determined to keep my milk going, While I was expressing, DS1 (21 months) asked, 'Mummy doin?' I explained that this was where milk came from to feed the baby, just like the milk we drink comes from a cow. Having mulled this over for a few minutes, he re-appeared and asked, 'Mummy cow?'

My DS, aged about four, asked, "How does the moon say up in the sky?" My neighbour replied, "With BluTack!" (other sticky products are available)

When told "Just a minute" my son enquired "Is that a long minute or a short one?" Made me realise how many times I said it.

Tomorrow never comes.

When I moved to Devon I learnt that things would be done "In a minute"

That could be from tomorrow ranging to never!
