The Playing Fields of England

I will be even more delighted when the ban on outdoor sport is lifted so that our juniors can start playing club football again. They do miss it so - they are not even allowed to train at the moment and the leagues are in a mess because of so many missed fixtures. They’ll all have grown a foot since they were last together!

My DIL tells me the children were so happy to be back on Monday they barely stopped talking all through the evening meal. Lovely!
Never mind the “never catch up” and academic targets it’s the whole school experience that is important.

Lovely to see them trotting off to school this morning. Sadly grandson (17) is having the collywobbles about going back to college even though he has been doing very well with the work at home. He is also nervous of being out in public as well not because of the virus but he has a fragile self confidence at the best of times and he is a beautiful boy but gets teased as he is a bit on the short side. So sad.

I saw the children on the playground this morning it was lovely. As someone who has to watch a lot of junior football I have enjoyed the football free saturdays. A field in the middle of nowhere pouring down and freezing cold. Yep I can wait for it to start but then again I am a grumpy cow

My youngest son was a school hater , only in his last year at primary did a teacher see his suffering , this teacher started a chess club for after school and my son took to it and it made his life better
The rest of my lot revelled in outdoor stuff
I do feel for the more sensitive children going back to the hurly burly

I am listening to the primary school children on the field next door but one, it’s certainly a joy.

Every so often I hear a shriek that sounds like our GS

Why do they shout at each other in the playground when they are right up close? So funny! But the sound is lovely to hear.
Team games and outdoor sports are not every child's cup of tea, but are important for both physical and mental well being. I hope all clubs and activities get back to normal soon.
