Parcels to Australia, advice please.

I want to send a parcel to Tasmania, thick letter size [4 cm thick) and thought it was just a matter of taking it to the post office. But having looked for some idea of cost online it seems there are lots of options and perhaps forms to fill in. It contains some silver Christmas pudding charms and 6 x silver 3D pieces. Any advice most welcome. Thanks.

They will help you at the post office. We regularly send parcels to Australia, just a couple of minutes at the post office counter should do it.

parcel2go are good. I use them to send things to Canada.

Anyone tell me please if there are import complications if we are sent some gold medals from Australia . I am thinking of tax . They are not for us but to give to a museum on behalf of someone living in Oz. The person has sent them off without first consulting us about them .

How old are the medals, FloraDora? If they are old they may be exempt but I had to pay a substantial amount for some gold jewellery sent from Australia. GST had been paid on it but I had to pay VAT and Customs Duty before Customs in the UK would release it.
I had enquired by phone and had an assurance I wouldn't have to pay anything by a Customs Officer but unfortunately that was not the case.

Personally, I would send anything valuable via Royal Mail, tracked service.
