Magic Wednesday ?

I’ve just watched 2 brothers meeting on the golf course, one of them has a wife who has just had a stem cell transplant and is shielded (8 weeks ago).
Surely he should be staying at home? I know they are keeping 2 metres apart, more like 3 metres whilst talking to camera.
But what about getting to and from, the place, going to the loo at the Golf Club? If I was his wife I’d make him strip down outdoors and shower and wash all his own clothes before I’d let him back in the house. Maybe I’m being over cautious.....

Sorry, in answer to your question, yes I think people will be rushing out, whether or not their personal circumstances allow for it. I used to believe in common sense, but I don’t think that everyone has it.

I heard on the news estate agents will be back in business, and people can move house.

We are off to golf today. Our course is very particular about how and when we play and put the restrictions in place before the lockdown. However the course is now fully booked for the next four days so that's a lot of people but its a big area. The club house is closed except for the loos.

I can't see how anyone could/would get infected in open spaces. It's transport that's the danger along with supermarkets and large stores where you have a bigger volume of people.

I would think a golf course is an ideal way to exercise. Easy to keep distanced from other players and out in the fresh air. Obviously the club house is to be avoided.

More movement here in rural France, supermarkets etc busier and other shops opened up.

Well I’m off to play tennis at 10 at my local sports club of which I am a member. The club is usually open to non-members but not at the moment. May I just mention that the cost of membership is £88.50/ year before anyone starts castigating me for being rich.

The courts will be unlocked, sanitiser, to clean the bolt and our hands, will be by the entrance, the net will be at the correct height and there is no way we will come nearer than 2 metres to each other. In fact I shouldn’t think we will come anywhere near that close.

I am only a mile from the club so not going very far either.
Although I have some misgivings about a lot of the decisions at the moment I am happy about this one.

Pretty much the same as yesterday I suspect. We are in Wales, so nothing has changed. I'm quite relieved we are digging in a bit longer despite starting to get pretty restless. Stay safe and sensible everyone.

If somebody is playing tennis,what about each person touching the ball? Is that ok?

I am sorry and concerned (and angry) for the people who have no choice but to go to work. I would be frightened if I was being made to return - I am lucky that I can easily work from home.
Reopening things means that people have to be there to service whatever is open. They may have to go on public transport - saying use your car is fine, if you have one and if you can find somewhere to park and can afford the parking.

I honestly think we will see a rise in infection (and consequently deaths) in about 3 weeks. And then we will be back to square one.

I realise I sound doom and gloom and I am sorry for that.

I'm just back from a 90-minute walk and there is definitely a marked increase in road traffic compared to yesterday.

Sure there will be streets, roads, parks back to normal. Most will forget the 2 mtr rule for their own selfish wants. Perhaps though I will be able to walk in a footpath instead of being mowed down by speeding cyclists.

Ooopsadaisy - I'd guess they would factor that in to him going out of the house - for all you know, they may be able to have half a house each so have little physical contact anyway !
There's a certain sector of people that have been doing what they want anyway all the way through and those people will no doubt be the ones that will be off to the beach/ national parks etc just because they can.

Grandma24. The LTA has issued good guidelines. Singles play only. Use own tennis balls clearly marked. (My opponent will bring the balls and I will Handle with disposable glove. Doubles only if four people from same household. Our club will keep clubhouse out of bounds. Indoor courts still to remain closed.

Please remember that lots of the population did not have the opportunity to work from home or stay home on 80% salary.

Our business has been open all the time with socially distanced working, extra cleaning/sanitising.

This virus is not going anywhere soon, we just have to learn how to adapt our lives and carry on the best we can.

It is totally illogical to put the world on hold until a credible vaccine is found.

We have been self isolating because of age and medical issues. Our house is on the market and from today viewings can be arranged. This means total strangers would be able to enter our house, obviously with our permission. However our daughter, who is on maternity leave, and according to current advice, cannot come, not even to sit in the garden at an appropriate distance. Where is the logic???

Is it true about housing market reopening? So if my son we’d to put his house up for sale I could go and view it? Only kidding.

Sitting in N.Ireland, so the same as usual. Thought we might even get a wee more exercise, but nope we got to wait til the 28th to see what we are told then. Just had my hour walking the dog, so painting fence later in garden on my ownio. Oh well....

Oopsadaisy3 - exactly what I was thinking. I'm vulnerable due to compromised immunity, but his wife is almost certainly even more vulnerable. He most definitely should be at home shilding too IMHO.

We are in Scotland, but one thing concerns me. Much though I'm sure lots of precautionary measures will be taken, and the economy does need to slowly but surely get going - from today people in England can view and wander around stranger's properties for sale, but they still can't visit their parents/offspring in their home, or even in their garden/on their driveway.

Someone has just asked on the Victoria Derbyshire show - "so you can't visit your elderly parents, but if their house was to be for sale you could go round for a viewing?" GOOD POINT!

Well I suppose the logic is Besotted is that you have to use your common sense and make choices.

Presumably you will absent yourselves or stay in the garden when viewers are in your home, and you're willing to take the risk in order to sell.

And the advice for people to only meet one other person/parent at this time is to keep meetings to a minimum to reduce the risks.

It’s illogical that childminders and professional nannies Can look after children, but GPS can’t.

Nothing to say that the childminders/ nannies are not in the same age bracket as the GPs.

If you’ve a second home/ caravan you can travel to it, but not stay the night.

There was an Estate Agent interviewed on the news and he said that home owners are advised not to be in the property at times of viewings.
