Disposing of fur coats

I want to get rid of a fur coat passed on to me. I’ve read that Oxfam send them to countries where they are still worn to help keep warm those in need, to Syria for example. Is this true? Any other ideas would be welcomed, too. I can’t just bin it!

I'm glad you posted this as I inherited my DMil's fur coat and it is sitting up in the loft along with 4 sheepskin ones. I would be pleased to donate them to a good cause, so will watch for replies.

I got rid of my mother's through Freecycle - someone wanted for amateur drama costume. Then son was quite annoyed has he had wanted for Halloween!

I think it would be wrong to throw it. It's already in existence, so, although I'd object to new ones, it's only right that somebody should have the use of it. PETA take them.

PETA the animal rights charity will take them - they're used for anti-fur demonstrations, bedding for animals and some are sent to Africa.

I took my DM's fur jackets to Oxfam.
