Brexit for kids

I have always talked to my kids and now my grandkids about politics. We normally watched Newsround -and I now look at the CBBC website if I want help with an explanation.
I was taught, and I taught them that we vote according to what we think is best for society generally. We also talked about respecting others' point of view, and I am struggling with respecting proven liars.

Depends on the age I expect. Our grandchildren are 7y and 3y. They’d prefer to chat about swimming lessons, football or Christmas and dollies.

And anyway, why worry any child with world affairs or climate change?

They can’t do owt about anything until they’re old enough to enter a polling station.

We have discussed Brexit with the 12 year old grandchildren but they are more interested in global warming. At a recent birthday party for another of the grandchildren whose ages were between 6 and 12 the talk at the table turned to politics. I was surprised how knowledgeable these young people were about the rainforests and Brexit. They all had opinions on Trump and Johnson and had obviously had discussions with their parents.It was very heartening.

Children are influenced by teachers, parents and each other I would very much doubt that Brexit and politics is high on their radar. Climate change certainly would be a school topic Brexit very unlikely because there is absolutely no certainty of the benefits or otherwise. The level of logical, factual discussion amongst politicians as well as the general population is dire, what hope can children have to make sense of it.

Yes it will. I will vote for what I think is right @nd what I think is the right thing for this country. Why would anyone vote for something they don’t believe is the right thing to do.
