The new diary!

Lovely diary. I still run a paper diary as well as a Google diary on phone, lap top and tablet. Do I ever get appointments muddled- oh yes.

I'm like Teetime, I have a paper diary as well as electronic! Dh and I cant cope with shared electronic diaries so we use the paper one as a joint one.

Er, hope Teetime has remembered our and this pm!!

I found a website where you could create your own personalised diary. We keep one near the phone. This seemed ideal. Several lines per day, a week on a page, with a small monthly calendar in the corner. Spiral binding. It should be ready soon - I'm looking forward to using it.

I like to carry a small paper diary in my handbag and try to remember to put in appointments for hairdresser, dentist and hospital etc which also must go on wall calendars in the kitchen and the lounge.
Do I remember everything? No I sometimes get caught out. Well, I'm only human.

I have a very slim diary for my bag. It shows a month to a page so I can see what I'm at a glance. We also have a shared calendar in the kitchen. No digital diary for me.

My Smythson diary is my annual present to myself and gives me pleasure all year. Fortunately DH hasn’t the slightest idea of just how wickedly extravagant a present it is; if he knew he would, being a true Yorkshireman, have a heart attack!

My mother was a most superstitious woman and if next years calendar was brought into the house it had to be in a drawer or hung face to wall, the thought of writing in it would have induced panic and lots of salt being thrown over the shoulder and all manner of things happening.
You have been warned.
Now I have got that off my chest ,it is a lovely diary.
I tend to manage with a large calendar in the hall and scraps of paper in my handbag but my life is so boring and uneventful I don’t need anything else.

Mine's always one from Smiths in the form of a ring binder.

Mine comes from a well known ( cheap) card shop and costs
£1. I always buy a black one for some reason.
I love the snowy expanses of a whole year, literally a blank, but it soon gets filled up with scribbled ( and often illegible) appointments/times/meet ups etc.I need to check it every day.

I have just bought a Moleskin too, my little extravagance.

I can beat you Maw. I have five entries already. All hospital appointments.

Although I use the computer for most things, do not do so for my diary.
Like Lemongrove, just have the one pound ones, which is always kept close to me. Next to me indoors, and in my handbag when I go out.
Not only is this used for ALL arrangements (one of my g.children laughed when she noticed I had even put down which day I intended to do my washing!!), but it also lists useful tel. nos, full details of medication I take - so useful when I get asked, I just hand them this diary open at the appropriate page. Also, have all the numbers of important items (Blue Badge, NI No., Passport No.,Driving Lic. No. etc. etc.).
Have just filled in all of this in my new 2020 diary, along with birthdays /anniversaries of all family members and the year they were born/married.
I do take great care of this diary, totally lost without it, but can lead a reasonably ordered life with it.

Thanks for reminding me! Last year a dd bought me a big RHS desk diary with lovely floral watercolours. I've found it so useful, especially given an incredibly busy year. Must tell her when she asks (as she will) that I'd really like another.

Everything's on my phone now - so diaries and calendars are obsolete here!

OH dear, lovebeigecardigans, you have my sympathies (hairdresser, dentist and hospital).

Not used a diary since the year dot. Always used to get a Letts Schoolgirl’s diary for Christmas. We always use one of those long slim calendars for remembering dates. Lately I have been backing that up with using the calendar on my iPad. For reasons I prefer to forget the word moleskin always reminds me of Terry Wogan. Best forgotten why.

Lemongrove I think we shop at the same retailers mine was a pound too but I get a different colour every year turquoise this year or should I be posh and say teal

I always mean to write in pencil so if something is wrong, it can be rubbed out. However, I had a request for a pick-up the other day, with rather complicated instructions, then was told no, they'd got the wrong date and of course, I had written it all in biro! At least it's for a day in December and the diary is not pristine.

Oh, it's so pretty! Adding it to my pinterest wishlist alongside the Howl's Moving Castle Folio Society book, the Sophie Allport fox bag, and the Anthropologie floral measuring spoons I'm coveting this year.

Of course my family will keep buying me stinky bath sets but I trimmed my present buying budget years ago so I could find the money to buy the things I really like...

Oh dear, ann, I have all my 2020 book group meetings in my new diary already. Plus a lunch with some friends in January. What dreadful fate awaits me? It's a very small but adequate diary from a well known stationery store which now shares premises with our post office.

I used to love the Good Housekeeping diary and account book (!)
I was that organised person and I used to try all the recipes they printed at the change of each month too.
I liked to keep them (no idea where they have gone now though ) and my social life when the girls were tiny has never caught up - it would be coffee with X, Y’s child/ren to play with the DDs, lunch with Z, tea with W - OMG it was a hard life!
