Further news on new hot water tank.

Apparently the old one was a "pig" (engineer's words) to get out, and the new one is even more of one to install......They are now taking the airing
cupboard apart and building a new platform for the tank to stand on. That involved a trip out to buy the wood etc, and the news that they will not finish today, and will have to come back on Monday.

The cats have been going stir crazy about being confined to one room, but thankfully have tired themselves out and are sleeping. (They are indoor cats and normally have the run of the house).

DGDs are here and are being very good and keeping an eye on the cats.

However, I am getting near the end of my tether...........

Further updates as and when.

I impatiently looked on here hoping for good news!
What a palava. I wonder if the Queen were the client, the workies would be so incompetent?
Unless of course this is the first hot water tank they've ever installed.
Have a nice weekend. Are you warm at least?

It’s a bit harsh to accuse the installers of incompetence! Often it’s only when they start work on a project that unforeseen problems arise. It must be very frustrating, and it will be for them too, as they probably thought they would have finished by now, and will have to put back another job, to the probable annoyance of their next customer. They seem to be solving the problem by building a platform, so it should be easier for any future inspections or repairs.
I hear stories about jobs that seem straightforward and turn out to be extremely complex from my plumber and fitter son in law, and I know he is very skilled, hardworking and honest.
I hope we have a happy ending to this story by Monday!

The real fault lies with whoever failed to follow up and order a new boiler. That should have happened the day after the leak. I had to ring them a week later, an engineer was promised but never happened, and it took another phone call two days later to get one out two days after that. These men are working really hard on a difficult job, it's not their fault. I have received a measly and insulting £50 compensation, and I will be writing a very strongly worded complaint.
