M & S Refunds - A Warning!!

I think they have a problem with shoplifters returning items not paid for.

I actually don't see a problem with that.
No receipt, no proof of purchase .

Am very surprised they would do anything without a receipt in this day and age.

Just to say that I don't have a problem with this new policy either. In fact as I told the assistant "Well, I don't blame them". As someone has said people steal stuff and then get a credit note. I put it on here so people know what the new future policy is.

Fair enough They've always been very generous about refunds.

Slightly off topic:-
A few weeks ago a woman in front of me in the queue in M & S had 2 black wheelie bin bags (the very big bags) of clothes she was returning. I counted 32 items. I ask you!!

I saw yesterday that a lot of stores are cutting back on refunds for online purchases; people have ordered several sizes to try on and returned the unwanted ones (have to admit I'm guilty of that - but only 2 sizes...) also returning items that they have clearly worn.

I have returned a few items over the years but aleatsas new and always with swing tag and other labels intact plus the receipt if bought in store or invoice if bought online.
I never order two sizes. I go into store to try on and feel and see material then, if I like it, I order online. Same for homeware.

DD bought some boots online from John Lewis. Ok, they were reduced but still cost £80. After not many wears the suede split. She has proof of purchase. They have offered her £10. She's absolutely furious and says she will never shop with them again. She also bought some pyjamas from M&S to take on holiday; when she arrived at her destination she found that they were size 16 but packaged as 10/12. She phoned me to get the receipt out of the dustbin but I couldn't find it. They did give her a full refund but it meant she had no pyjamas to wear. You'd expect more from both M&S and John Lewis...

I like M/S but recently our local store has closed. So buy online but sizing issues mean I’m returning more than I buy!

I would not expect a refund without a receipt.

At Sainsbury's you don't need a receipt if it's their own brand.

The problem these days is that you don’t always get a receipt in store.

I am always given a receipt.
