I had a letter from them today telling me the arrears owed by my daughters father (amounting to 16 years, presumably, of paying nothing, ever) are to be written off.

I have never pursued him for money, in fact it was the csa who half heartedly tried when she was about 12.

So, how nice for him to have walked away scot free and gone on to have four more children.

I haven't even given it a thought, but I feel aggrieved now, having got the letter.

Well that’s the patriarchy for you

But of course, it’s always the single mum’s fault when the children go pear-shaped

It feels like a bloody insult.
If I were on Facebook or something I would like to have put the letter out on public display. angry

MissAdventure I can quite understand how you feel. This has churned up feelings that you did not know you had. I would feel very aggrieved to know that it is so unimportant it can be written off just like that. I bet if he owed the government that money they would not write it off so easily.

I haven't even had any dealings with them for well over 20 years, so I wondered what on earth they wanted with me.

Both me and my DH got one too MissA .
Mine said that the child support from my sons father had been written off . My son is 38 and I never received a penny in child support from his waste of space father who went on to have several more children too,

My DH’s letter said that the child support he owed to his ex wife had been written off. My DH is fuming as he/we paid fortunes in child support until his “child” ( now in his mid 40’s) left full time education and the continued to support him through university .... often to the detriment of my own children . He wanted to contact them today to “have it out with them” but I told him to just leave it .

My feelings were not as well buried as yours MissA. Dd had a dreadful time with them last year and having got it sorted out expects the same rigmarol to start again about now!!!

I hope my daughter hasn't received such a letter------for their sakes !

Well, I feel a bit better knowing others are in the same boat, one way or another.

I've just been really rude to a cold caller, so that made me feel a bit better, too.

I feel like going round to exes house, and poking the letter quite a long way down his throat!

DD was paying estranged husband for their two children that lived with him. When DD and husband got back to co-parenting and agreed that she no longer needed to pay, it took two phone calls from him and three letters to her for them to register the fact that payments would stop.

I might be able to beat that nina, dd got £1 per between 2 children!!
