You stupid woman

Whatever your political views, the poor woman's s run ragged so there are those who see this as an ideal opportunity to kick her in the teeth while she's down.

Maybe m, and as I say I don’t agree with her as I am not a Tory.and sadly the Labour Party doesn’t exist anymore it’s been hyjacked by extremists so I have left them, but it’s a sorry state of affairs when a female MP is subjected to this mysogyny and the speaker clearly knows it happened And does nothing

If you think a man is stupid or behaving stupidly, and you want to make it clear, you almost automatically say, "You stupid man". If you think a woman is stupid or behaving stupidly, and you want to make it clear, you almost automatically say, "You stupid woman". As a rule, most of us would not say in this kind of context, "You stupid person," although that would be possible. I am always iffy about stupid as a criticism, but I don't think this instance involves sexism – she the old-style radical feminist says.

Yes, we tend to say 'stupid man' as well as 'stupid woman', but there are connotations of dismissive contempt about 'stupid woman' that doesn't exist for 'stupid man'. Indeed it is usually used quite deliberately as an insult for women, a total put-down and intensely misogynist.

Whether a man uses the phrase or not could be a litmus test of whether or not he is a misogynist, but has anyone ever doubted that Corbyn, was a misogynist? I certainly haven't.

I don’t think it’s sexist at all. I agree with absent’s summing up. But I do think the pantomime business and the sneer on her face was pathetic and I can understand why JC would consider her facile.

Anyway whatever your politics I can’t actually remember a more bitter nasty divided parliament? Can anyone else? There no sense of humour or duty or integrity at the moment.

Really nasty atmosphere guessing that’s bevause the centre ground on the benches behind Corbyn is silenced as are moderate Tories.

I am appalled and angry at the behaviour of these so-called adults. They are a disgrace. It’s time they remembered that they are all meant to be representing us instead of conducting all this back stabbing and back biting in their lust for power. They need to work together to sort out this dreadful mess we are in instead of continual point scoring. I despair of them.
