Recently, I did a bucket collection in our local shopping centre. Another volunteer and I raised over £300 for the Alzheimer's Society, which I was asked to pay in. The method commonly used is for the money to be paid into one's own bank account and then a bank transfer is done.
I turned up at our bank with the money all bagged up correctly and was told that they only accept 10 bags of coin at a time. I was livid! We have banked with said bank for over 30 years. We have/had 2 business accounts, 2 personal accounts, a joint account and various savings accounts. After me standing my ground the money was eventually accepted.
When I got outside, I rang DH to 'share' my experience using the expression that we always use in times of stress (look away now if you are of a delicate disposition!) 'Sh*t, b*gg*r, a*seh*le'
It was at that point that DH told me he was using hands free in the car and also that he had a passenger with him who he was taking for radiotherapy.
